Hi guys, i'll be taking over a M400 tomorrow and am intending to rebuilt the bike starting from the inside out. I will be leaving my bike with Ray for 3 weeks.

For the kind and experienced souls, where would you recommend i start with for legal performance modifications?

Also, has anyone had experience ordering from MisterCarbonio? Am thinking of ordering a CF tank as well

Bare in mind that u have to get the insides of the tank coated wif protectant if not the petrol will eat thru.

hallo,

Here is my advise..

1) Is yours a Pre 98 model or 99 onwards. See year of manufacture !

2) You can only buy from ebay.co.uk not ebay.com, cos the US model ducs' wire harness is different from UK or EU specs..

3) 620S harness cannot be used. Warning 2

4) If you need my help, give me a call..Cofe on you of course

Troll

Hi guys, was wondering if anyone knows if i can buy a '95 M600 (UK) harness for my M400?

Rebuilding the bike doesn't come cheap r sure!

G'day all Ducatisti, finally achieved a schoolboy dream of owning a monster, albeit a humble 08 696. I'm 1.78 tall and i've had people telling me i'm too big for the bike. What do they know..... lol

But to be honest, a SF or even a Diavel would be about right for my build but then again, they never had either of these when i was a schoolboy. These other 2 can wait. Till then, that's one more item off my bucket list! :D

For the moment, i'm spending pretty quality time with the bike and ain't gonna stray anytime soon.

P.S - the old lady 85 PX has been caught turning her nose up at the new young thing in the family. lol

Tats exactly why u never see a slow ducati.

U can accelerate thru the rpm but not hold rpm. If u hold anything below 4krpm, it will always feel like its goin to die and practically never be able to open the throttle to gun up.

hi bro jus to check even if we accelerate above 4rpm is it normal that we can feel the the footrest vibrate?

cause I'm still new to Ducati and I just got a 2nd hand monster 696.

Sry i have no idea wat u r saying. But in general, ducatis vibrate alot more then a jap bike.

Errmm... Based on ur description it seems normal but i would suggest u test ride another ducati to reconfirm your doubts.

My bike vibrates quite a bit. Somehow i relate that to the bike telling me it's still alive. :p I've never had a jap bike before so can't relate. The monster vibrates all across the rev band. Maybe it's the termis....

End of the day, i feel a bike should vibrate. Otherwise one might as well be riding an electric vehicle.

My Termis are the stainless steel ones. FC is acceptable. Never really monitored other than I don't think it's really a fuel saver. FC prob sucks. Then again, you don't hear Ferrari and lambo owners talk about FC now, do you? :) if want good FC, get a spark. If want acceptable FC, be diligent to check tyre pressure and don't scrimp on servicing.

Bottom line, we spent so much on the bike already, don't let a few dollars ruin the ride experience!

Hi guys, im considering buying a ducati monster 796 so im gonna need to ask a few questions.

sorry if questions are repeated as the search thread functions produces too much irrelevant results.

1) Is M796 a good everyday transport bike? Or is it better as a joyride bike?

2) Average fuel consumption?

3) Maintenance is it high? I travel quite alot. one year maybe can clock 25,000kms

4) good for touring? ( as from what i see from some websites, its an oil-cooled bike )

5) spare parts cheap or expensive if compared to japan class 2 bikes?

6) do most of you own another bike for commuting purposes?

7) why is the ducati monster SO FREAKING SEXY?

thanks for the help!

Mine's a 696 but I guess is about the same. For your ref:

1) joyride

2) never monitor but prob quite crappy

3) maintanence is high prob at dealer. Other places like planet motors charge very decent prices

4) never done touring yet but shouldn't be an issue. I have Vespa friends who ride up to Thailand. But don't expect same plush rides like the proper tourers

5) likely more expensive than jap bikes due to economies of scale. No. of jap bikes are higher thus making the availability of parts easier to obtain

6) my other ride is a Vespa ridden daily for the past 18 years

7) makes all the questions that you posted totally irrelevant now doesn't it? :D
