I dun quite get the meaning of version. I never used a Z6 before as i read from FJR forum that it doesnlt work as well as they claimed.

Been using bridgestone 020R for both front and rear. It is 120/70 z-rated 58W on the front and 180/55 z-rated 73W on the rear which is the same as what my manual recommand. Another OEM tyre are Metzeler MEZ4J. Apart from these spec? Is there another so-called version to this tyre? Please clear my doubt.

Thanks.

Since we begin to tok about tyres, I'll like to share with ur my exp on pilot road.

I'm not an expert in this but I can really feel there's much better grip while cornering with this tyre.

My stock comes with Z4 which I think sucks for me.. I remember when I first started riding on my FJR, I skidded a few times while cornering.. Towards the end of its life, the rear locked a few times when i executed e-brakes..

With this pilot road, I can scrape my foot rest while cornering. It gives me so much confidence.. Though its a bit of ex, my mech told me it'll give me better mileage compared to 020 and Z4 (I'm taking with a pinch of salt). I shall see how long it can last.

My third set of tyre coming soon, can ya please update me on the efficient mileage u manage to get from ya pilot road. What price are ya getting on it?

I hab done 25k on my 020 and i think it good enuff to last me another 10k on it. But i dun really like the appearance of the front tyre tread pattern, kinda ugly. Pilot sport on the other end, very nice. and that only for physical appearance wise.

25K with another 10K? Wow, thats really a lot man.. My Z4 at most lasted 20K with some threads gone...

I dun know the exact price of my pilot road.. But I guess should be ard $450 including workmanship.. Pretty pricey.. I just put 2K+ on it.. Will haf to wait for a year to know its durability.

Went to check out today. Beautiful!

But asking price is $25k!

Isn't that too high for a pre-owned bike? (granted that there are accessories installed)

Thot a new one cost about $26k.

Was thinking of offering max $20k but held back since the gap is big from the asking price.

Just my 2 cents worth of opinion

Regardless whether you are buying a brand new or not, it's advisable to check the full amount (OTR price + outstanding interest amount). To me that's the real cost of a bike rather than OTR price - unless you are able to pay full amount.

At the rate you are calculating (2 mths - max $20k), if he keeps it a few more months, then the bike would be FOC. In future, who dares to buy new bike? Everyone is saying that 2nd hand market is bad, that's one of the cause.

If the deal can set around 24k, i think it a more attractive deal. And btw there aren't acessories on the bike rite, fully stocked!

Mis-comm

I'm talking about the bike at Northlink.

You're talking about the bike at Stormrider.

:cheeky:

Why are people who ride motorcycles called bikers and people who ride bikes called cyclists?

Again, seems that our subject matters are different, ie not the same bike we're talking about.

Anyway, it seems in your opinion straight line depreciation would be considered more appropriate.

Well, each is entitled to his/her own opinion.

To me there is certain risk in purchasing pre-owned bikes.

When the price is too close to another brand new purchase, there is little incentive to consider the pre-owned bike.

If I were to buy a new bike today and try to sell tomorrow, I would expect at least 10% - 20% drop in value.

Selling it within short period is always the highest loss.

well said.. dats the bad point of buying a bike 1st hand, depreciation sure alot when selling it.... regardless how many months old... no point debating.. dats the cold hard facts......

Anyway we abit :offtopic: ... hehhehee

Peace! I come in peace, I don't wish this thread becomes another WAR zone. No hard feeling pls. I'm just trying to preserve the prestige and value for FJR. FJR is one of the top models in the market for Sport Tourer cat. Don't let the value of a barely four year old bike becomes a valueless, just like the rest, despite so much good comments and respect in this forum.

Who don't understand Depreciation? But then again, who determine the value for a bike? Yes, I agree, everyone wants to get bike at it's lowest value, however you affect the one that's owning it.

Keep the value high, nobody knows what going to happen next, one might not own the bike till the COE expires, if by then, you decide to sell at the 2nd hand market, you will not feel the pain.

Other factor is when there's a full claim on your insurance, with that kind of depreciation rate, the FJR would be valueless.

Again, no hard feeling, if there's, I aplogise, we will end the topic here. Best wishes to you, to secure a good deal on your FJR. Maybe we can have a FJR session would be a better way of discussion.

:offtopic: :sorry:

Tyre Change

I would still stick to B'stone BT020 for my next tyre change, although in terms of brand, I preferred Metzeler. So far, BT020 is v good on wet surface, taking the fact that we are situated in a monsoon climate.

Anyone went for engine oil change and the motor tiam actually replace the "washer" for you???

Refernece from http://www.fjrtech.com/getdbitem.cfm?item=33

Crush Washer Oreintation: While most owners know they should replace the crush washer when changing oil (or rear end fluid), many are unaware of the correct orientation when installing these crush washers. The crush washer is supposed to be a "one-time use" only, and indeed I have seen a lot of seepage on many differrent FJRs whose owners don't replace these washers, or install them incorrectly.

i do my own oil change.. The thing is, I doubt HL have stock for the washer as well.. Auto oso.. Every time I ask for it, they say no stock... They say they'll order but the next time I pay then a visit, still the same answer..

But if there is no leak for the drain bolt, its pretty unneccessary I must say..
