Bro,that is By Right but u forgetting theres always a a thing called By Left..;)

not trying to be brave or anything, just rode the bike from the bike shop all the way to my house just to "feel" it..currently im under 'not riding' so the sub rider will be riding it for now..thats y can't wait haha

haha... Be careful, *touch wood* don't sway sway get caught. If kenna caught by "white-shirt" uncle, all classes of licences that you have will have to be given back to the govt, and you can forget about your TP test in Apr. Endure a while more, my friend, Apr is very near and you will be able to ride your "Dark Angel" officially very soon. Not worth it to take the risk now.

Good Luck and all the best to you for your TP. :thumb:

I agree with Mr seahmh.....

not worth the risk.... I've personnally seen quite a few peeps whose licence got revoked because of a few mins of rashness....

The reality of havin your 'Dark Angel' released from the lair (bike-shop) is the urge to ride it everytime you see it....

Having said that, i wish u all the best for your TP too bro...

I have a query here...

I'm almost done with my running in (left around 25miles to be exact)

Do I go back to the HL for my first servicing?

Or can I go to any other workshop?? (recommendations please)

And wat brand of engine oil do the seniors suggest??

Casper4XXX, you did not see my ealier posting huh.

I paid $234.87 to have mine replaced at HL.

Did you change the tensioner together with the timing chain? Or just the tensioner alone?

Just for your consideration.

I did my :

(1) Change of tensioner + labour at mileage around 29,000km at bike shop A for S$150 in June last year.

(2) At bike shop B, mileage around 33,700km, Sept last year, change of timing chain (think it is S$55), do valve clearance (but according to some riders here, not many shops/mechanic can do a REAL, CORRECT, PROPER valve clearance), injector cleaning, change of EO (I brought along my 4 bottles of Rock Oil), changed 4 x spark plugs (S$80), changed coolent + labour (S$120), changed gasket, TOTAL damage for all = S$384.

I am not sure whether in both cases, you guys will say charges too expensive or "Wah, superb cheap ah." or not... Anyway, bike has been maintained and $$ paid. :) :)

Bro, just some personal comments.

(1) Just change of tensioner + labour at S$150 seems a tad too expensive unless the mechanic really dismantle your fairings etc to access to the camshaft for more accurate fitting of the new tensioner.

(2) Yups, valve clearance is a very very labour intensive job (80% labour,20% parts). Be sure to approach shops who can really do a proper job. But $384 seems too cheap. I was quoted $780. Wonder why the great difference *Puzzled*

Dear brudders,

What's your mileage before hitting reserve? I only get around 300km the most with 60% expressway and 40% arterial roads riding.

Not a fierce rider except that I like to drag a little when picking up.

Maybe a trip up perhaps?

Stated on the invoice as "tensioner assembly, cam chain" I guess they replaced both :cheeky:

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

Yah... My fairings was taken down for checking of the tensioner and chain.

In the end, the mechanic said only the tensioner needs to be changed.

Guess that is why it is so expensive.

Thanks for your advice, Casper.

from my previous 2 tensioner change experience.

1) done by HL - changed tensioner only, but left my bike there about a week (due to some festive peak season, HL totally lack of manpower), total damaged was about 120++.

2) done by Kallang cycle - also change tensioner only, done on the spot. fairing striped but didn't top all the timing(according to HL all the timing need to be top to get minimize tension on timing chain), tensioner only cost about 80bucks. labour was cheap as i do some other things too.

In both time the timing chain was never changed, & both time i didn't hv chance to give meng tong a try.

Hmmm...a new tensioner cost around $70 from AM. Guess HL might be cheaper for spare parts.

Pardon me for my ignorance. I am a mechanical idiot too...

During la kopi sessions with some of my friends, they were saying something like pistons 1 and 3 will be in "up" position while pistons 2 and 4 will be in "down" positions. All 4 of them will never be in "up" positions at the same time.

So does it mean to say that the "timing" will be adjusted when pistons 1 and 3 are at the "up" positions to get the minimum tension on the timing chain, then turn "cram-shaft" (is it what it is called?) to "make" pistons 2 and 4 in the "up" position to adjust the tension to be at its minimum again??

Sorry, I really can never get the mechanisms of the "cram-shaft" and the pistons right, cos I am really a mechanical idiot.

Ask me about DNA, I can. Ask me about oligonucleotides synthesis, I am expert. :cheeky:

do take note where the cam-shaft position (in blue) when the right "clock" neddle point at between 1-4 & 2-3. from what i understand the position of 1-4 is needed when mechanic doing valve clearance.

Sorry 4 my previous post where i mentioned all piston top position, that is not correct. maybe my chinese tea makes me drunk.. :cheeky:
