guys, me near time for tyre change, any feedback regrds BT020 performance and wear out.

think BT020 no longer in market. BT021 front will wear faster. to me i will stick with Z6.

I am using BT021 now. Was using Z6 previously.

My personal feel only, not trying to act expert here : When turning or negotiating bends, I feel Z6 tyres like a bit "hard". After changing to BT021, when negotiating bends, (comparing to Z6) I can feel the side of the tyres like "melting', "sticking" and "modded" onto the road. Makes one more confident of negotiating the bends, U-turnings. But that is of cos the case, becos BT021 is a dual-compound tyre while Z6 is not.

Yes, I agree with Mr sheep. The front does wear faster than the rear.

I changed both front and back to BT021 about one - two weeks before the 3rd Nation Ride in Oct last year.

Checking the "threads" of both front and rear tyres now, the "threads" of the front tyre looked less deeper than the rear one (look like it needs to be changed in a few months' time). The "threads" of the rear tyre still look very new and deep like "long-gan" (drains).

Is it true about the rule of thumb that "2 front tyres change for every one rear tyre"? Or does it only apply for this BT021 tyres while it is the vice-versa for the other tyres, e.g. Z6?

Any advice from the experienced FJR-riders here? Thanks in advance.

Z6 is dual compound technology tyre too. Most of the road tyres are dual compound.

imo, feeling for both "best" (BT021 & Z6) tyre should be diff from rider & model.

let me trry to break down what i experinece b4 & heard from others rider from using diff tyres. (hope this post wont be toooo long to read :cheeky: )

BT021 on 05' with huge H&B side box (review from ashenz)

-the bike can stay "slant" even u ride straight. :faint:

BT021 on 06' (review from happy_cookies)

-the front tyre will become "pineapple" & intend to wear faster then rear.

BT014 on 05' (review by mutant_sheep)

-the feeling is very nice compare with others tyre. but it wear out faster. & it coz problem of wobbling at 70~80km/h when both hand off handle.

BT014 front on 06' (review by happy_cookies)

-this tyre is previously used on my bike & i pass to cookies, funny thing is his bike didn't wobble at all, but he felt his bike lower.. o_O

Z6 on 05' (review by mutant_sheep)

-solved the wobble problem like magic :faint: the bike intend to play resistance atitude while on band. so counter steer technic must be apply. but i like it.. :cheeky:

pilot road 2 on 05' (review by jason the panjang)

-the feel is ok with satisfy pricing level compare to Z6, but wobbling problem surface at 70~80km/h & hands off handle.

pirelli diablo on 06' (review by happy_cookies)

-very nice road feeling. hi speed cornering no problem at all. but it intend to wear faster & its no longer in market.

pilot road on 02' (review by omnislash the guy always zoom pass me try to scare me to die)

-"okie leh. like no problem at all..." :sian:

toking abt tyres, how long do u have to change tyres?

I've heard can last 1 1/2 years and the rear tyre will last 2 times longer den front?

i juz changed both my tyres laz week. Bike is only 7mths old but my mileague was 16,000 miles, which is about 24,000km.

I m change my 5th set of tyre soon, and think will change back to BT021... My millage is abt 86,000km for 18month bike : )

For me, even BT021 front wear off faster then rear type, I will still change it since it really stick to ground... I even hit my footrest few time when my last visit to Cameron Highland... : )
