Anyone fitted a Vista Cruise on their FJRs yet???

 

Easy rider - does urz fixed nicely??? 'coz read frm several website.. all mentioned need to file n sandpaper here n there to fit the Vista Cruise in..

 

but some mentioned needs drilling.. but some din mentioned anything about drilling... can u confirm??

 

BTW dat time u mentioned about the Universal Vista Cruise and the Yamaha Vista Cruise.. both looks the same ehh... wotz the diff??

For those who think that all 1 year bikes are in good condition, take a look at the Valves on my the FJR. I had checked for all signs of poor condition vavles before opening up the engine, and true enough, it is in very poor condition.

 

Luckily, it can all be saved .... early detection is the key... but KNS the last owner didn't take care hor....

 

Anyway confirm 6 vavles and assemblies need to be changed. Dun ask me how much pls.

 

Advise people not to buy FJR....

The 6 loose valves is from the ticking problem, not the way the bike is ridden....

 

Doesn't really matter how many hands this is.

Ya.. I was wondering why u blame the previous owner.. I mean there's nothin much we can do to maintain the valves except doing the clearance as stated in the manual rite.. Or maybe overhaul every year...

Hi teamlm & glenn, I am 100% very sure by the time the front mud guard comes in a month or 2, ur radiator cooling fins will be dented liao from the sand & small stones After tat when u try to comb back even more jialiat

That's not true with the ticking loose valves. That is a manufacturing defect that is inherent in Yamaha's R series and FJRs.

 

Actually the other things are minor and curable compared to the valves, one year of abuse is easily cured.

 

The problem now is that there are quite a lot of problematic ticking FJRs out there; I have personally heard 2 others tick... and Hong Leong is not going to do anything about it.

 

From what I read on the boards, once you change the valves, the problem never occurs again (somehow replacement valves are stronger??). But how many people will take the time and trouble to replace valves when this means a $2K investment?

 

On the flip side if the valves are coming loose at 20,000 km, confirm they won't last 10 years. Somewhere along the way the valve is going to snap. In the meanwhile this mean more vibration, more heat etc. and it will have a knock on effect on other components.

 

I forsee a time period in the future when FJR's start to fail and get a reputation for being 'not reliable'; leading to a fall in 2nd hand prices. Right now they're still too new for failure, but with shaky valves, that's inevitable....

I checked. In the advisory, theose with ticking vavles are to change it to a DIFFERENT PART NUMBER .... different kind of valve with a special marking on it. Seems that they are "quietly" replacing the bad valves this way. So the new valves ARE stronger as I suspected.

purely alloyed steel w/o carbon... high hardenability... corrosion resistant.... but will be softer....
