@pashley - Ebay selling e item u looking for @ S$200 + shipping... E reason y agent sell as a package coz it comes with all e locks for ur seats n panniers coz its using e same key.. So if u buy separately, u juz have to use e current key for ur seat n panniers... But for agent to sell it @ $1700 is cut throat...

Thats what I think as well but Pashley said:

 

its planet motor. not only the bikeshop said it comes in a set, hong leong also said the same thing. they cannot sell it seperately is bcos the item does not have part number for itself. i find it stupid also.

 

just came back from the shop.

 

Anyway, its actually possible to just change the ignition switch and use back the original key, at least for the 04 and below models...

The set I ordered online is not exactly wad is needed. It doesn't come with the red key and the immobilizer. Ah Chong said he will try his best to help me fix it.

i guess most of the cost comes from the ECU which i dun even need it. they are crazy to tied up the ecu with ignition switch.

So you need the ignition switch and ECU minimum? The panniers and fuel tank cap dun need right?

 

Gen 1 is usually 2 bars out of 6 highway riding on a normal day. 3 out of 6 on a hot one. 4 bars and the fan comes on to bring it back down to 3. I've only hit 5 bars once in my 9 yrs of riding.

No... my current ECU dont have problem so i dont need a ECU. Yes, i dont need panniers lock and fuel tank cap.

I need the ignition switch with immobolizer that come with red key. but now no choice liao, since i bought the one without immboliser. just try to fix with that.

Planet motor informed me that the ignition switch that i bought online cannot fit.

OMG........ Any bros with recommendation? Should i change to the set which cost $1600??????

ignition switch + fuel cap + pannier lock + seat lock + ECU = $1600

immoboliser should be attached with ignition switch

 

if i change this set, there will be a ECU lying at one corner of my house. wtf, why cant hong leong just sell ignition switch. I have not been enjoying my ride for abt 1 month.

bro, its not i want the fuel cap, seat lock and pannier lock. hong leong pack the ignition switch in a set. i have no choice of just buying the ignition switch alone.

How can lah... ride Yamaha bike dunno AM. Its along Rowell Road, quite near Ah Boy. They sell Yamaha parts and Piaggo... Tel: 6292 9452

 

You can get about 20% cheaper if you buy from them. Caution though, Hong Leong dun accept outside parts even if its genuine. Main thing is, I think you can just buy the parts separate. Unless really Yamaha Japan sell the ignition, all the locks as a set...

He asked you to check your model series number right?

 

All these while I buy parts from AM, its always cheaper. Recently I bought a Fuel Pump for

 

I think if you intend to fix your bike, and wanna cheaper option, confirm your model series number and get quote from AM. But if you want fast and warranty, go back to HL.
