I will recommend bikeworks which is located at kaki bukit rd 1, first east centre.
Anyone can advise if there's a reliable workshop nearer the West and South? Kaki Bukit is more e east side.

A full tank can give me up till 350km then my reserve bar or last bar starts flashing.
Can anyone advise what's the fuel tank size? Mine was blinking (reserve) and I only managed to pump 22L.

Also, once it start blinking, how far can we travel (assuming 50/50 urban/highway) on reserve?

Heat of the bike is not an issue

I find the heat quite bothersome. Wondering if there's any way to deflect the heat.

Btw, anyone knows where to get handphone mounting for this bike?

Yes, anyone can give advice how to reflect the heat??

Update on my most recent tank.

Did 38 miles on reserve but only managed to pump 22.95L. For this tank, I didn't do hard acceleration or the sorts. Manage only 17.24km/l of petrol (ron 92). Just pumped v-power. Will observe next tank.

Anyone riding FJR European '11 model?

I had this problem with the Fuel consumption meter...not sure if it is due to the bike's engine/parts or the meter.

My average MPG is always around >43, but just a few months ago, I noticed that the MPG is dropping its value. Today, the reading is 41.5 which is the lowest MPG ever.

1. I have been using the same fuel type for 2-3 years, so it cannot be due to the fuel.

2. Spark plug has been changed 1 years ago and MPG was constantly >43.

3. Tire pressure checked.

4. Brake pad checked.

5. Fuel meter indicate correct usage. I usually pump once per two weeks as I only ride to work and even with the drop of MPG, the fuel usage seems to be correct. Fuel meter drop 2-3 bar per week and remain constant.

Only the MPG value seems to be incorrect... if it is lower that means it is consuming more fuel, but it doesn't seems like it is. Something is really fishy about the FC reading...

I am running out of idea what contribute to the drop of MPG value. I even went to motor shop to ask and they also do not know why it caused the drop of MPG.

That is why I am here to ask experienced FJR owners.

Possibility that I can think of:

1. Engine problem?

2. Fuel consumption measuring mechanism failure?

Anyone has experience such thing?

Presume that nothing is wrong with bike, try to reset the average fuel consumption. See that it helps?

Yes, I did reset couple of times... it always end up >40 MPG at first... but gradually it will start to drop and drop...

Usually, if I reset, it will drop until about >43 MPG. But not anymore now. It will keep dropping until about 41 to 42 MPG.

if I were you, will check:

1) Idle setting: when bike getting old, component or seal will give way (not spoil), so when temperature going up RPM will change accordingly, thus the result of the AFC reading.

2) Clean or replace air filter: Clogged filter may feel OK at low air flow rate, but not at higher flow rate. Poor air flow will disrupt the smoothness of rpm.

3) Heat: Ensure coolant 100% function, radiator may clog some where. Cooling efficiency drop.

4)Check tank overflow or bleed: ensure tank pressure open to atmosphere.

if you bike still run normally, you may have to wait until more serious problem pop out to pin point the problem. It may just part's efficiency drop over time.

Do u always pump in Msia bro?

If yes, how bout try this out.. Your next 2 full top up, do it in sgp with Ron 95. It helps to clean up your pump filter and fuel pump. After that see if any changes. But you will have to constantly ride to flush out your old fuel.

Hopefully it works for u.

Hello fellow bikers, I am posting this for my kaki. He is looking for a FJR1300. If you have one & thinking to sell, do drop me a PM and I will pass you his HP number for you to discuss directly with him please. Here is his wish list:

- Yamaha FJR1300

- preferably fully stock

- original factory color (prefer red, but ok with other colors)

- low mileage; less than 30,000 miles (about 48,000 km I think)

- 1 or 2 owners, not more.

- Gen 2 or above

- no major accidents; low speed or stationary drops are fine.

- service history would be nice

Thanks for reading. Have a great day!

Saw three FJRs (not sure if I am wrong or not, but think it is 1 x Gen 1 silver and 2 x Gen 2) parked in front the Alexandra Harley Davidson Shop this late morning, close to noon time.

I oso had the same scenario , initially I can achieve arnd 45 mpg , but nowadays I usually get arnd 41-42 mpg . But went up to 44mpg when I did mainly expressway riding . I only pump in SG using shell 95 n the occasional Vpower . Did try running on different tyre pressures , oso same outcome . But I do realise my fuel consumption goes down when I m going at low rpms or arnd 80-90kmh expressway riding .

FJR has a powerful engine with compression ratio of 10.8:1.

The higher the RPM goes, more pressure is built inside the engine.

And under such huge pressure, the valves, seals, joints will give way overtime but not to the extend that it's spoil or need replacement, just enough to allow gas leak after combustion in the engine block, not fuel leak (not easily notice by visual) and in-turn power lost.. also explaining you poor milage. ( that is also why new is alwasy better)

once you reduced speed, RPM came down ..also the pressure inside the engine, seals hold better and less leak... and that explain why you are happy about it.

If you didn't see any obvious oil leak ot stain on the engine block, and all sound normal... just go and have fun time with it.

Thanks all for the feedback. Still no clue why the FC consumption dropped so much.

Things I did:

1. Check tyre pressure. Pumped front 270 and rear 290.

2. Changed engine oil and filter.

3. Used fuel cleaner to a full fuel tank (forgot the brand already but it cost >$20 bought at Unique motorshop.)

4. Clear carbon run at 2nd link.

All of the above done and the FC is now averaging 39-41 mpg.

Will go for air filter change this weekend and see how is the result.

Any other suggestions? Where to check, what to check, what to do... etc?

I do notice sometimes when moving off, if I do half clutch, the engine will *knock* as if jerking and choking... engine almost going to stall... so have to rev a bit more and release clutch more to prevent engine from dying. Is this a serious problem relating to engine?

Maybe yr idle timing a little low. Try to set a little higher and see how it goes.
