The 03 to 06 models have inverted front forks that's adjustable only on one side.. =S

but the current model is adjustable on both sides, i think.

Also the rear suspension is much better than the old ones!

thanks guys

but yixi, i dont quite understand what do u mean by suspension which is adjustable for just one side?

doesnt seem to make sense to me. maybe i am a little dense, care to explain?

also,

what are the common issues with the bike, most likely looking at a 04 unit.

what breaks most easily and any issues with maintainence?

also, what's the mkt price for the 04 z1000s?

assuming stock? 75,000km mileage?

usually if the front forks are adjustable, you can adjust it harder or softer, through the knob at the top end of the fork (near the handle bar) on BOTH the fork, right?

for the pre-07 models, the hard/soft adjustment is only on ONE of the front fork.. leaving the other fork non-adjustable.. o_O

not that it really matters i suppose? since both the forks and suspension are pretty crappy to start off with.. :sian:

i gather that you are talking about adjustment for the rebound and compression?

that much i understand

but to only be able to adjust it for one side? meaning the rate and distance of travel for both front forks are potentially different? that i am lost

how is that possible and what were the kawasaki engineerers tinking?

I just dug out my manual.. :cheeky:

and yah, the rebound damping force adjuster is only one the right fork.. :sian:

Anyway, took this out from an old article in motorcyclistonline.com

"There's no compression damping adjustment at front or rear, and only the right fork leg is adjustable for rebound. The assumption is that the legs are so rigidly held together that tweaking one will have the same effect on the other."

I suppose that's the reason that kawasaki gave..? Not entirely convincing, but what to do? It was probably a cost cutting measure..
