hey guys, today went to my bike realise there is a small puddle of water underneath it and i realise it seems to be dripping from the collant reserve area though i did not really confirm it is from there. but since it's water, i reckon tt it couldn't be from elsewhere and perhaps some parts of the reserve system is leaking... i guess tt even if the reserve is leaking, there should not be a prob to my engine so long as i dun overheat it too much. just to confirm this with u guys lest it's a big mistake

hmm...y dun you ask the previous owner where he used to service ur bike?

it might be better as the mech will know about the bike's history or 'behaviour'.

then again....if that shop is F.Up....then iz another story.

If wana Go K&T, ask the regular rvfians here to go with you. Beats gg down alone if u catch my drift.

$100 to wash/tune carb is too expensive. so what if its Meng Tong or what Ding Dong?

IMHO, his skills are over-rated. Dun waste unneccessary $$. 400ccs' tuning are in the ranges of $60-$80.

dun bor dai bor ji wash oso. perhaps one year once or twice.

maybe u wana get a fren or anyone here who is more aquainted with a V4 engine to check out yr bike. what you deemed as "fishy" may actually be a normal thing. dun waste $ doing unneccessary rectifications.

:goodluck: n enjoy yr new toy.

If you really wanna go K&T, must go with some other of those who have been there, like what Shay mentioned. If not, you might just get chopped. Esp if you go with those of us whom he knows, he prob wont chop you.

Theres always a first time in getting to know pple. Everyone here has gone thru the first time meeting of the rest of us.

Maybe you can try the take a bit of the liquid and lick it, that way u know if its coolant or somthing else.... :cheeky: Anyway, the coolant reservoir is on the right side where the tail fairing is, just above the pillion footpeg. If you park in the MSC, then maybe the cleaner came to wash the floor, so left a puddle of water....if u parking w/o shelter, maybe it was the rain or something.

jungleboy : lick ?.. why dun u give me a demonstration alpha first huh :giddy:

anyway, the liquid wasn't really there when i go to the bike, it's after i straightened the bike tt i realise it starts to drip from the reserve collant area... think i will ride for a few days and see how the temp guage goes.. if its alright.. i am not gg to do anything abi it..

this is something u need to so SOMETHING about.

just open up yr rider seat and check the reservoir level.

if it keeps gg down.....something is wrong with yr cooling sys.

get it checked pronto. it could be as simple as replacing the wearing rad cap so as to prevent yr engine from been overheated!!

hmm tt serious? i tot last time we used to say tt even if the reserve reservoir is empty, it's still alright coz so long as the main coolant system is still full? today i opened up the coolant cap to check and realise the coolant is still full .. i will keep on checking everytime i ride jus to ensure... i dun have tools to open the rider seat to check .. by the way, it's a leaking system .. replace coolant cap got use?

tsk....! of coz its that serious lah!

take my case for example..my coolant overflow bottle was always empty at the end of the week....very abnormal as i always had to refill. went for a checkup and it was found that my rad cap was rusty inside and the rubber seals had worn due to age.

the rad cap was replaced and my problems went away. you think the coolant cap is just a cap? its design like this for a reason...the exact details i'm not too well-versed in. has something to do with equalising pressures btw yr overflow bottle and radiator as the cap (spring loaded) actually dissipates pressure out into the atmoshpere at certain psi. or something like that.

anyhooz...rad cap or not, iz common sense to look into any cooling sys problem pronto.

so how much does sit cost u to replace the cap then ? and where did u do it?

another thing, when u always have to refill , does your temp go up faster or more abnormal? did u have any leakage which u can see visually?

Demonstration Alpha

1) Kneeling position

2) Lower your head to the ground

3) Stick out your tongue

4) Lick the liquid

5) Gurgle it in your mouth (like wine tasting like that)

6) Swallow is up to you

therez all the advise i can give you..no point telling you here the a's n b's, everyone's problem n symtoms are different. yours could be a genuine leak in the system somewhere. get your cooling sys problem checked out asap by a mech (any mech!).
