sorry forgot to answer yr question.

Milage for SPortec M1 i cannot comment as I am a low milage user. Some guys were commenting that my tires looks very fresh after so long But From the time i changed it last December03 till now is only about 5000KM, so it is an inaccurate gauging.

Performance wise..it is very good. very sticky and confidence inspiring even in rain.

BT014 ?

What is the Rear size that they offered you?

160/60/17 or 150/60/17 ?

From what i know, the width of 160 will rub against the swing arm. Correct me if im wrong.

The tyre is Z rated as well. Meaning to say it can speed of sustain speed of 240km Our 400cc will never be able to utilize the speed limit.

If you prefer Bridgestone, save some money and get BT090.

BT 014 is a new tries. But too bad it only had 160 for rear. it very lasting conpare to 090. it is a upgrade version of BT090. i am now using BT014 . it abit oversize but still ok lor. highly recommand. cause BT090 not as lasting but is good.:cheer

hi IL4,

seen ur nick around the nick often, you riding a Rvf too? or another 400cc model?

btw, thanx for the neato tire spec charts, helped us understood where each BT models stand in terms of performance and suitability.

and yea..i guess the reason why the BT014 is so overly hyped is becoz it made its debut on the '04 RR blade.

anyhoo, although BT090s are H rated and thereby suiting a 400 cc power output more, its durability is something that puts most people off. Maybe its becoz its compound is made softer, easily warmed up to operating range but unavoidably having a faster wear n tear.

But then, is the BT090 Pro any better in the durability department? And also how does it fair in wet conditions? coz lookin from the chart, the Bt090 is near the full racing tires category oredy and i tend to have a notion that full fledge racing tires only fair well in dry conditions.

The BT014 u got from a 04 RR Blade is Different from those BT014 off the shelve.

U might be wondering what crap am i babbling about....they share the same model however their constructions etc are different...

Thats the reason why OEM tires are so much more expensive then off the shelves

Care to advise what thing is different?

Did read an article think from MCN stating that the OEM BT014 tyre has more milleage but less sticky than the off shelve BT014 tyre.

Is this the difference u referring to?

not flaming.

thanks.

May i know what other tires have u used before so i know how to answer to your question.

yoz... so the off the shelves BT014 is more expensive becoz it performs better? but if what Ken said is true... i guess the Oem and Off the shelf versions each have thier own merits. Or perhaps tire grip is inversely proportional to durability.

anyhoo....to answer yr question, i've only experiences with;

1)Metzeler tyres (presently sportec M1s, previously ME Z1s) on my RVF (so far so good, no premature wear, no tire deformation).

2)Bridgestones BT010 (i think) on my Vtec1 which made me feel not very safe when it rains

3) Bridgestone DUnno what tires on my Scram 3 years back.....

4) DUnlop 207s or 070s (cant remember too but got the number 7 one) on my SP150 5 years ago which according to my memory, deforms easier and has average grip only.

hey IL4,

i guess different ppl have diff experiences with tyres. and u are right, this matter is subjective and it all depends on our riding styles, frequency, etc etc...

I'm running my M1s on 150 rears. pressure i last check was 33 PSI.

160s look better lah but RVFs have a tendency for 160s to rub up against chain if using a X-chain. Also 150s respond faster and leans easier in corners.
