I plan to head down to Planet next weekend. Will be my 3rd visit there. Recommended this place to my fren, and he's more than happy to be a returning customer.

I plan to service my fork as well, in the next servicing. Do they have fork oil there or do I have to bring my own?

*propose to him about the cleanliness and floor before.. but he say will crack the floor within 2 days and the cleanliness will only last him for 4 hours when they use 1 full sunday to clean up.. haha..

ah great! thanks! Yeah..My bike is white and it gets quite dirty after that. But I normally wash my bike after I send it for servicing so not an issue there for me. Besides, it also depends on what you do. For simple oil change, the bike doesnt get that dirty. Just a quick wipe down will remove the stains.

Thanks again for the replies!!

97th time at Planet!

06/12/2012

11:50am

weather: Fair

mood: Du Lan

Went to Planet after LTA fail my DR800's inspection.

3 Things to do,

1. LED signal light = FAIL

2. Number plate use sticker on windscreen = FAIL

3. Exhaust pipe seam rusted until open = FAIL

Ah Chong immediately ask me to go to the corner shop where the auntie can do up an aluminium number plate for me.

Went there right away and got it done for $8.

The auntie did it fast enough, but the 'Du Lan' thing is IT IS STILL STICKER NUMBER WHAT?!?!!!!!

Only that it is on a metal plate. :faint:

When I fitted it onto the windscreen I was naturally Kao Pei & Kao Bu-ing (Stupid LTA)

And I had a good mind to mount the new plate just above the original number plate and go to the inspection center just to mock the LTA staff there, because the 2 sets of numbers looked exactly the same!

Then Ah Chong told to weld the seam shut and recommended me to the welding shop, I went to the welding shop to weld shut the crack in the seam welding. I was quite worried that LTA will fail the inspection because of the welds, but Ah Chong assured me that the welds were right on top of the original welds so the LTA officers want to fault also got no evidence.

Lastly, I got the signal lights from Ah Chong, and installed them myself. As I installed them, Ah Chong cut for me 2 pieces of metal strips to help fasten the number plates better, but I got no fitting bolts and nuts and asked Ah Chong for some. Ah Chong got me a small box of tiny bolts and nuts and then when he saw me still working on them after some time, he got me another box which were better fitting, but by then I had almost finished, and ask Ah Chong "Why just now never early early take out?" :sian:

Then he said, "The box outside got put the sample mah, but who knows somebody mixed them up!" :cheeky:

Ah Chong charged me $28 in all and joked that the bolts and nuts are the most expensive!

If want to charge me labor will be another $60. Luckily I did the job myself!

As I was about to leave the shop, I couldn't find my balacava and asked "Where is my Ninja face?"

"Huh? what ninja face?" asked the lady boss, and when I found the balacava, I put it on and said "This one! But this face at night cannot go into 7-11!"

We all laughed!

The next day I went to LTA and the tech passed the inspection for me after he saw the effort I took to change the items listed.

Huh?? Since when front number plate use sticker on windshield will fail inspection? Is it the size? I have always passed inspection with sticker on windshield leh. Is this a new rulng?

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

Silent Hunter, may I quote u and open thread for others to feedback whether they encounter the same thing? If a sizeable number of riders kenna this new trend, might as well go Planet first then go LTA inspection liao. No point double trip knowing go LTA first sure fail :faint:

No need lah. Heng sway also. :sian:

If you want to open new thread else where I also cannot stop you right?

But nowadays, they are cracking down on LED lights too. :(

My LED was from the previous owner, been on the bike since 2009, every year also pass inspection one, until this year. :(

When I was at Planet, Ah Chong said he ordered 20 sets of signal lights, so many people had to change their signal lights until now left one set only.

The inspection center even fail people who change the tail of the S4 (Superfour) from one version to another, (eg: Spec III change to Spec I ) even with filament type signal lights!!! :giddy:

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Actually, I experienced that too. For the past 3yrs, inspection with LED signal lights and white pilot lights went off without a hitch for me. Same centre everytime in Sin Ming. This year, fail pole light color, fail LED signals. Seems like they're becoming more stringent.

I don't use LED signal lights. My signal lights are stock, so no problem that. But I've got sticker number plates on windshield.

Gotta wonder, how stupid can those scholars at LTA get? Sticker number plate stick on metal plate pass but sticker number plate stick on windshield fail. Then again, considering the scholars at SAF come up with boots with two holes in them, I guess can't quite blame the scholars at LTA. Scholars these days not like last time.

Can't quite help getting the feeling this country is not the same anymore.
