Regina, forma leather or puma goretex. Should be 200++ Riding boots vs timberland boots, timberland looks better but wont have as much ankle and shin protection.

thanks for the advise bro. however i think i will try out timberland first. as i will only wear it during raining days. so no need to carry extra shoe.

thanks

Make sure the lips are sealed or of one piece construction. Cos if it rains, water tend to seep in through the tongue/ laces area. Timberland leather usually are suede, soft type, comfortable to wear but I have no idea if they are properly treated to be waterproof. Haha my doc martens Is a good example.

Sliders are important to prevent broken bones.

For rain, rain shoes are good. Or proper riding water proof boots.

Timberland althought stated waterproof, they can never be.

Although they do a fairly good job.

Just water resistant. :)

In my opinion get a proper riding boot. You will not regret. Timberland boots are not cheap and not for purpose of riding. Even riding boot can slip on wet surface.

There are some riding boot I have seen can be worn with jeans and office wear and you won't look out of place. Unless you are wearing timberland boot for both riding and hiking, I suggest you buy a riding boot and save some money in the long run.

RIDE

I agree with the others for not going for Timberland.

One of my concerns is the lack of reinforcement over the gear shift area. I have a pair of hiking boots with an ugly mark over the toe area because I used to ride with those.

As for waterproof riding boots, I have tried Dainese, Alpinestars, SIDI and TCX. I would give Alpinestars the highest rating. The waterproofing lasted almost a good 2 years. With the rest my toes started to get wet after a few months. I think it's probably due to the flexing near the ball (of the foot, not of the croutch) area causing cracks or tears that allowed water to seep into the boots.

I think touring boots don't look too out of place with casual wear.

My TCX Jupiter has lasted me for two years with really minimal maintenance. And am looking for another set soon. What do you guys recommend? Preferably black, ankle height.. Around $200...

Should try the goretex from alpinestar and dainese haha. Sidi is just to ah beng and loud lol

I knows about the A* SMX 2 but review says they are not so good in ankle protection. And it's kind of low also, if rain then droplets can go in.. Which Dainese model? And which shop to go? Regina or that shop for TCX or...

Good choice. If timberland were good as bikers boots I'm sure they'd do a new line of products for bikers. Hehe

Go take a look at RevZilla. They have lots of boots reviews and u can take reference from there to have a better idea what type of boots suit your needs. No need to buy from them bcos may be able to them cheaper here in spore.

Chiap lee. Think its upper serangoon rd?

Chiap Lee has 2 shops. One at Jalan Besar just beside Regina. The other at Serangoon Road on the right side of the road somewhere after Mustafa. Sturdee Road North if I'm not wrong.

Profile Asia carries one model of a brand whose name I've forgotten: they're full leather, ankle height, waterproof, and have two straps. Only thing I don't like about them is how they also have laces under the velcro front flap (which the straps secure down the side). $260 I think.
