[Discussion] Staying awake while touring

Haha, me is different. I can only ride during the night time. During night time, I can go super slow yet I won't feel sleepy. But when the sun comes up, my eyes will start to close liao. That why I always plan night time traveling.

You might be battling to keep yourselves awake. But the scary part is you don't find yourselves battling cause you're already asleep!!! The ultimate advise is to take a short break once you have the urge to close your eyes.

for long distance riding, one has to prepare oneself by having sufficient rest both mentally and physically, how you do, it's personally. Whatever the situation, if you feel tired, it's best to just stop somewhere safe to rest rather than to push on. That applies to both rider and pillon.

On my Mayday trip, one pillion on a Harley fell off the bike because she

:bounce:

How is the pillion? She alright? Harleys are boring :p

open your visor... allow wind to blow onto your face...

always works for me...

yah that works for us too. then at when come to a stop, we will get a bottle of 100+.

along the way, we will always try to talk to one another. and like every now and then, "spot-check" with one another by saying "you still awake?" :cheeky: this one really help us a lot! occasionally, we would also sing to one another :cheeky:

of course, dozing still do happen. we just need to do constant check with one another every now and then. when I started to ride zig/zag, my wife will sound me out "you sleeping ah?"

we too "hate" the sun. riding in the day with the hot sun can put us to sleep and this is worst than riding in the night :giddy:

Ya agree with you. Why take risk since your life is more important? Go to the nearest RnR, get a quick power nap. If all else fail, wash you face and drag a can of redbull. Cheers!

Got once I soooo stone and no R&R around

park under the big tree overhead bridge

(put on full-stand) and fall asleep on my tankbag

Honda ..................and nothing else

Hi there,

I always seem to have a problem staying awake while riding long distances at night, and end up having to make frequent stops to catch a wink or 2. i tried coffee, eucalyptus essential oil in my helmet, listening to mp3, anti-glare yellow glasses, but these only do so much to keep me from wanting to doze off. BTW i only have this tendency riding at night, comes dawn and my biological clock takes over and I feel alright to ride. Anyone with any advice?? :help:

That's painful....

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

Well, you can't pinch yourself awake and ride safely at the same time, right?

Sometimes, we all need a little help. :D

usually happens to me especially when i'm driving

when i feel this way, i will speed up a little, and try to, for instance, catch up with the next car infront.

its something like finding some "excitement" or finding something to do while driving

tat will work too.. but not everytime ppl wanna play leh... :cheeky:

Were your convoy led to predefined "checkpoints" as a group?

My previous trips to Malaysia had proper itinerary provisions for different kinds of bikes; engine capacities. Put it simply, the faster ones would discuss with the leader and agree upon where to stop and wait for the slower ones to arrive.

This stop-point is usually where the eway exit chevron-markings are -- that's what we define as "checkpoints".

Pardon me for being curious but I was just wondering whether your group planned the trip in this manner

====

Other than that, if you're really sleepy and are at the gas station...why not sound off to your mates and take a nap? Nobody in this world can completely fight off the zzz-Monster so why let it take you over while you're riding.

Cheers.
