Go down to a shop to have a look and feel. Sit on one and see if you like the posture etc.

Just looking at the bike on picture vs seeing and feeling the bike makes a big difference.

Consider also, budget and how long you intend to own the bike.

Get someone experienced to go down with you when choosing a bike also, especially 2nd hand.

Cuz they know what to look out for. and there's a thread somewhere on this forum on what to look out for. Search for it if u want :) Youtube has videos on that too.

Have fun, ride safe!

If you want vespa better get an old ah pek Excel. The automatic ones are damn expensive unless you can get a good bargain. Not to mention your P plate insurance will be expensive in the first place.

thanks for your reply!

may i know what to search for the youtube video?

yes i agree i gotta go and try out the bike itself! but am afraid that no one is going to entertain me when i go to the shop? no experienced friends leh. all my friends dun ride! will it be ok to go down to look see look see before i get my license?

I wld say vespa esp the old sch ones arent the best choice for a new rider..

1. The gear shifting uses ur hands this is thought in the center thus many riders arent able to adapt to this.

2. Vespas hv unbalanced weight due to the engine placement on the right and some riders have issues with balancing.

3. The tires are darn small n slippery making cornering a nightmare esp when wet.

It takes time to master the art of riding a vespa hahah.. Seeing too many new riders failing to ride a vespa and some in serious RTA i wld def not advise new riders to ride one...

I agreed vespa not the best ride for beginner. Rode my dad vespa with an oversize box he had. At 100kph the bike wobble like mad cos o the wind

Trying to clock 50 posts :dozed: DONE ! :cheer:

HI I nearly bought one for over 5 k for a 2 year bike. When I test ride the bike,it doesnt feel very nimble and when the road is uneven the wheel bounces a lot. Despite this, I still wanted one that time because I believe it would be good on the crowded streets rather than a motorcycle and would be getting a motorcycle if for higher speeds.

so you are a vespa owner now? any regrets?

My first bike is a vespa and i have been using it for a couple of years already. Though many of the points brought up by others are sound. I would say that a beginner is as well qualified as others to ride one.

You are not riding a racing bike, just ride carefully and at decent speed and it is totally fine.
