I would lk 2 noe issit true that when carburetor is being remove fm servicing, the tuning will not b as gd as the original. Also will the tuning also become mistune beri fast.

Hows the HKL carb tunning and servicing ? good ?

Acceleration power is not important than a good perfect braking system to prevent an accident.

Unique gd.. they use digital meter to tune, not juz by the mech's "feel"...

Simply put...the day when you let go clutch and throttle to move, it ride like a bicycle. There is lots of slippage and the bike hardly glide no matter how you throttle.

Hi guys,

I just did my carb servicing like a day ago.

The mech noticed that my coolant level had a drop so he helped me top up.

Prior to servicing, my bike was running cool, right after carb service it started running super hot. So much so, abt 5 km from riding, can feel the heat from the engine at my calf liao. The sharp contrast in temperature can really be felt and i'm 100% positive I'm not hallucinating.

I thought maybe my coolant level was low even after the top up, hence i decided to flush and refill coolant by myself, just got back 10 mins ago... whew!

My question is, assuming a carb servicing has gone wrong, can that possibly contribute to a higher running temperature?

Its the other way round..:)

I dont get it

What I meant is that after you carb cleanse and tune..your engine combustion is performing to spec and normally it does run hot..if it still runs cold..then its not right. the hotter the engine, the better unless your cooling system is not working properly.

hmmmm okay,

its running too hot for comfort. After 20km of riding, cant even touch the engine. Thats far too hot isnt it?

Now how can i know whether my water pump is working or not?

Is there any wire that the mech might have missed out while fixing the carb back to the chasis? :(

Can I ask something, whats the milage when u guys first service your carb? And how often u service ur carb?

20km?...that's a lot of distance..3 km already dare not touch.

I guess the only way is to take out your tank and unscrew the pressure cap of your radiator...do this only when your bike engine is cold status. Ypu should be able to see some coolant inside. Now..with the remain petrol in your carb..it should be enough to start and idle the bike for a a minute or two. When engine starts idling...observe the coolant movement from the opening and throttle your bike. if the coolant goes up and down or even flow out..its working. Another method without taking out your tank is to idle or ride your bike for awhile. Stop..open the right side cover and gain access to your coolant reserve plastic container. Reach the coolant inside and see it its hot..it shoul. These are the things I would do...unless there are better ideas from other rider here..IMHO.

I won't be too worried unless the temperature monitor led (PB1..Vtec I'm not sure) comes on. Do check the thermostat sensor behind the water radiator and follow the wire and see if it has been dislodge. This is the sensor that detect the threshold of overheat if any. It also trigger the blower fan when it reach certain hot temperature.

IMHO..there is no fix rule...I ride till the carbs gives problem..been 10.6 years and I only clean my carb once.

Hmm... Coolant is corrosive. Dun leave it on your fingers for too long. Doog info this thread.. I thinking of doing carb servicing liao

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

That's good for you. Your liquid cooling system is in top condition...unless the thermostat sensor is spoiled lah...but won't want lah.

my fren PB1 about an hour of riding the fan ON already.

That's no good. Coolant may be dirty or mixture of ethylene glyco and distilled water not right. Could be due to coolant retriction flow also. Best to have a flush and new top up with fresh coolant and if this happen again, radiator thermostat may not be operating to specification olehddee.

All the above as said assuming that the radiator external is not block by dried leaves, debris and whatever..

My PB1 goes to Malacca and back..average at 140-160 km..no chance to see the fan comes on.

Once the engine runs hotter and lubrication sets in..the idling speed would increase slightly and this is very normal. If you want to your idle to be at 1.1 all the time..adjust to reduce the idling knob while the engine is running hot to 1.1...however, when cold start to expect to see 1.1 though, it could be trottling at 0.5 or less..just hold on the throttle to keep idle alive till its warm up await or can hold throttle at 2-3 rpm for a 45 secs or so for lubrication path to set in first.

In short...what you are experiencing now is "Normal"..:cheeky: DON'T DO anything with the carbs whenever AT ALL possible.:dot:

This is very subjective and can be anything from your grade of petrol use down to your air filter condition, proper grounding for an old bike and others.

Carbs do get slimely stuff in it and occassional do get some injector cleaner premix into your fuel. It helps clear your fuel flow system and disolve gums in your carbs jets etc..don't expect overnite result...use a few tankful of it. Gte the "Blue Coral" one..the one pack in a shinny silver box..if not, the green bottle one would do...but whatever..don't open your carbs unless it's the last straw.
