hello peoples...i'm planning to get a 600cc.but i'm a bit confused on which bike to go for.but i have narrowed it down to these 2 bikes.cbr600rr 05 and gsxr600 05.i'm getting it only for track use.good enough to take part in MRS.

i chose these 2 bikes cos they r not too expensive.my budget is around 10k+-.

so solely for track use...c'mon guys...help me out in this matter.which one is better.it'll be good if u can gimme the pro's and con's..and the final verdict.(of course).....

coincidentally i ride an 600RR5 while a close fren of mine rides a 600K5.

if like your signature says, 'speed matters', then the K5 is the one you want. the K5 beats the RR5 in a straight line drag by at least half a bike length. its not much, but its near impossible for an RR5 to pull ahead of the K5. even if you consider conventional mods like full sytem and pc3, its the K5 that will have the advantage. the true potential of the RR5 is unlocked only if you have very, very deep pockets, to buy HRC equipment. then you'd have a gsx-r beater, but its beyond the realm of most pockets.

in terms of reliability, its the RR5. the gsx-r will have weird sounds, and other minor probs as experienced by my fren. they're not major probs, but the RR5 doesn have any of those probs. but its easier to diy a K5 than it is to DIY an RR5. the fairings and tank of an RR5 are complicated, whereas the K5 you can just unscrew and prop up the tank. goodness knows how long the gixxer can last; look at the roads and count how many older model honda sportsbikes there are as compared to suzuki. its rare enough to find 1000K1, yet occasionally you can still see a mid-90's 900RR.

the RR5 has ignition security, the K5 doesn.

The K5 has steering damper, the RR5 doesn. this is both good and bad: the damper protects against tank-slap, but the RR5 has much lighter handling, as experienced by my fren who claims the RR5 "drops to its side more easily than the K5". of coz, you can buy a damper for the RR5, but you'd lose its signature sweet handling.

the K5 seats are very plush, the 600RR feels like plywood.

essentially it hink its down to power vs reliability/longevity.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!
