Hmmm, I think I get what stroker is getting at, the Pilot jet acts as a step down jet, for lower rpm range? And the Main jet is for a higher RPM range, so the pilot jet should be smaller? I mean like the pilot jet and the main jet cannot be 115 for example?

Sorry but I have never ever gone near the pilot jet in my life!

Cheers...

Nope, you haven't gotten me, yet. The pilot circuitry is another circuit independent to the main circuitry.. It does not step down the mixture.. You're right about pilot jet being smaller. Yes, they're (and so is their numbers) smaller, but not comparable to main jet cos they're different jet of diff design and ratings. So the numbers are not relative to each other..

Yes, main is in a way for the higher rpm. But not quite right to say that. Cos you can be using yr main jet when at low rpm. Cos a Wide Open Throttle dosen't alwasy equate high rpm. It could be full-bore on the throttle while accelerating up tru the revs. The jets' influence on fuel metering go by throttle openings, not revs. Revs are a result of throttle openings..

The pilot circuitry works when your throttle slide is 1/4-opened and smaller.. During this state, fuel does not flow tru the main jet, but majority tru the pilot circuitry. So in order to cure your backfire, you'll have to richen it up..

Phew.. lol.

Ouch, after that, I think stroker is suffering from "finger fatigue".

Cheers...

P.S. I still think the carb is the ######-iest thing in an engine!

Eh bro, btw, where exactly did you buy yr jets from huh?? My fren searched around for it but didn't seem to be able to find it..

Danny boy, wait till you try playing with car's ECU.... pilot jet is what I call CLOSED LOOP tuning. WOT and more than a preset rpm, thats OPEN LOOP.

If you find carb hard to play, years to come when you touch cars, fark, you will faint!

Anyway, have been thinking about the helmet saga yesterday at that "shop". Fark, why the prices are jacked up more than 40% when you are in shirt and tie.

I wonder what happens when you are in a suit...jackedu p more than 100%? Really damn knn.

I am not too sure abt this...but usually, a rich condition will cause backfire cause uncombusted fuel goes through your exhaust and out into atmo?

Enlighten me pls? Thought it should be lean out slightly..... :help:

Bro, you'll have to trust me on this one.. haha.. I too thought that a rich mixture causes backfiring.. As per all others with tech background/ knowledge.. Its rather strange, but apparently, backfirings on scoots MUST be solved with a richer pilot. If the prob appears suddenly, its an indication of air leaking into fuel hoses/ airboxes etc etc.. Thus resulting in a lean mixture and hence the backfiring.

The backfiring on a scoot is the not same as the ones with overly rich mistures produces.. Its more like a fart (loud one).. While the rich-mixture induced backfiring is the flammy one cos of the excess fuel in the exhaust pipe..

Dun flame me on this.. But Danny boy can try if he doesn't believe me.. Leaning the pilot will worsen his prob.. I went tru the same thing countless times.. hee hee

Hi guys,

About the main jet size is 118 and because of I`m using aftermarket muffler I`m running 120 main and they put spacer to the pilot jet as well. I kow that because we put it on dyno came up 15 horse power on the rear whell and air to fuel ratio was 13.3 to 13.8 at highest before the jet upsizing now it is 12.8 . And as a result my take of slow down a bit because more power = quicker gera change whic is no good for my riding style. So I changed the weights again from 9 gram to 8 grams original 10 grams. But I think I`ll go with 7 grams next week. Because I`m happy when the engine is cold but when it worms up fully revs up bit less comparing to when it was cold. Anyways thats my story.

Safe riding to all.

Hmmm, it may take a little time for me to get used to it all! But the main jet is the one responsible for giving us the power to reach top speed? Anyway, just out of curiousity, I missed the deadline for the LTA inspection on my IU unit, will I get in trouble for that?

With Spiderman gone, this place is so quiet. Hey, been doing research, so the fastest 2A bike is the RS250?

Yeah, really so darn quiet.. Like ghost town.. I had to bump the thread up in order to prevent it from disappearing.. haha..

I won't dare to say that.. ha. Many riders will be 'pissed'.. ha. Apparently there's quite alot of PGM4 and RVF riders who refuse to admint that the rs250 is fast.. Dunno why.. On paper, stock rs250 is 55bhp. PGM4 is 45bhp. RVF is 53bhp (again, if my memory hadn't fail me). PGM4 shoulkd be slightly lighter then RS250. Slightly. Whilst the RVF is much heavier..

You do your maths and draw yr own conclusions.. My vote goes to rs250 though.. The bike rocks.. You interested?? I'll buy one to do up if I can afford the time and money.. But apparently, I can't affor to do it.. :sian: ..
