I have done some reading on tyre pressure and tyre temperature

1. Optimum temperature of 75-80 degree C (after warm up)

2. Optimum pressure of 35.5 - 37 PSI (after warm up)

I am a little confused as to which one to follow, temperature or pressure. I believe that varying the tyre pressure will affect tyre temperature. Low pressure will cause a larger contact patch leading to overheating of the tyre, vice versa.

Any thoughts?

Following the 17 June track day, here are some findings.

Weather: Cloudy

Tyres: Metzeler Racetec K2 Compound

Tyres temperature when cold is Front (26 C) and Rear (26 C) at 9.30 am

Tyres pressure set at Front (32 PSI) & Rear (31 PSI)

After 2 hrs of hard braking and accelerating, Front (59 C) Rear (65 C)

Despite not hitting the optimum temperature of 75 - 80 C, tyre feel stable and predictable without any slides.

Next time round will lower the PSI to F (30 ) and R (29), maybe that will put in more heat into the tyres.

Never got the chance to measure hot PSI in both tyres.

Not hitting the optimum temperature is because we are not running at race pace?

My take is to make things simple, if it works well at 32F and 31R, just keep it that way. At least you know the tyre is not heat up to the max and is not losing grip due to heat cycle.

Do note that getting the tyre heat up to "optimum" pressure, heat cycle comes into play.

Check out the link below, it's discuss before and at the end of the day, it's suggested to keep things simple.

If I offend anyone, I'm sorry, cuz at the end of the day, I'm still a slow rider
