guys,

frankly speaking, korean cars have come a long long way since they were introduce way back 10years ago.

Till now, pple still have the mental model that korean cars cant make it? it is that really true?

look at the current model of korean cars - Avante, Cerato Varient 2, Getz, etc

as compared to last time old models of accent, elantra, and the pony if u all still can remember.

Cos my dad's car garage used to be one of the authorised service center for hyundai. Even he commented that hynudai have improved alot as from last 10 years.

So when I mention if i going to get a korean car, wat would u all say?

Cheapo?

goin to give alot of problems?

why a korean car?

why buy a car that cant make it?

anyone care to share some enlightment?

Are korean cars that not up to standard?

then how to justify that the amount of korean cars on the road? even taxis are korean cars. ie sonata.

How many times u see a massive recall for korean cars on the newspaper or magazine? I have seen some jap models being recalled.....

Anyone care to share? Korean cars till now are still not up to standard?

As you said, korean cars have come a long way and have improved a lot over the years in terms of techno, materials and design. Nobody should say that korean cars are lousy. But everything is relative. All other cars have also improved and therefore are still ahead of korean cars generally. one thing for sure, korean rather than malaysian or china for me.

Engineering - it's comparable to Japanese brands of similar price range.

Safety - because of OMV, they are usually below Japanese brands.

Image - Still lack behind Japanese cars, but ahead of malaysia or Japanese brands (regardless of country of manufacture).

Resale - need I say more ?

Ultimately, the marketing strategy of korean cars is always on price, and not on features, safety.
