Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie in the world of:

- having a bike in Spore

- willing to go to the track

Maybe doesn't come with the other in Spore once you own a sportsbike. :)

Quick one about me, I'm turning 33 this year, had a R6 back in France (2 actually) and finally decided after 6 years in Spore to buy myself a BEAUTIFUL ride... but definitely not the most convenient in Spore as I got a beautiful R1.

My GF hates it, I do love it :)

In any case, i'd love to go to the track some days with people who enjoy it.

I've just missed the 19th Jan session in JB, but if anyone with willing to ride or go to the next session, please let me know.

I'd be happy to meet you before hand and get some info of handling a bike in Spore, and get some advice on what would be needed/recommended to get to the track.

Also, I have not seen any track session with professionals over a we that could really give you advice, tips, tricks etc.

Happy to meet you all fanatics of bikes any time.

Cheers,

M

I would avoid the Track Days at Johor Circuit as it tends to be too crowded. In fact, I love to go the day before or after a Track Day because the track would be quite empty! I am planning to have a go this coming weekend (either Saturday or Sunday morning). Gotta love this weather for riding!

I am no expert but I have been riding on Johor Circuit for leisure for a decade. Track riding is not as professionally managed in Singapore as in the US or Europe. You are basically on your own especially at Johor Circuit (Sepang is better managed, but cost more and is much further from Singapore). On the flip side, you have a lot of freedom to learn the track at your own pace and have fun (safely of course).

Send me a Private Message if you are keen. By the way, have you bought all the track riding gear? The R1 is track-ready in stock trim. Ride a few (tens of) laps to find out what you really want to improve about the bike before putting down your money. Personally, improving the rider is much more important. Modern sport bikes are better equipped than we can handle!

i think rhema83 you are one of the first rider i meet on my first trip to pg many many years ago ;)

matjaz, welcome to track riding. my advice for you will be

1. get your bike road worthy i.e. new tyres, get workshop to check for oil leaks, brakes etc.

2. get protective gears, don't come in jeans

3. watch videos on youtube so that you are familiar with the track.

lastly pls seek advice from someone familiar with the track.

I'm no expert but pt 1 & 2 were advices given to me plus this one by a very good mentor raptor (this is what i vaguely remembers)

"take it easy, don't push on your initial few sessions, be careful of the BMW turns, put on ear plugs, take out mirrors and stick to your line, its not road riding, don't give way, otherwise you are endangering the other faster rider and yourself"

hope it helps

Thanks all.

In order, mahuberani, yes i'm ang moh, i'm French.

Rhema83, i'll definitely give you a shout this we. Just had problems with my brake lever, need to get that checked first. I would never go t track without gear! I even tried to wear my leather jacket on "normal" roads in Singapore - yes it's hot!!!.

I didn't know you could go to the track outside of track days! Very good to know!

D.O.C, thanks for the advice. Again definitely no jeans. Had friends going to the track back in France and was actually thinking of removing mirrors, turning lights, plate. Would you have any idea how much a Fairing would cost? I'm keen not to kill mine... so looking for sth cheaper.

Subtlescum & all, if you'd like to meet in Spore before, let me know.

Thanks all and ride safe.

hi matt, for fairing, the china made ones are damn cheap, my friends got theirs for around 600-700 for ducati 1098/1198

I'm riding a rsv4 and decided to get from a reputable shop in singapore, top notch quality. fitment is guaranteed.

should be around 1000. you have to check with them for a quotation. it call Ban Hock Hin. the boss rides an R1 , maybe you get special pricing.

see you around if you are going to track this sat

Pardon me but I can't quite remember cos as you said, it was many years ago. What were you riding? I was probably aboard a white CBR400RR. I might not make it to the track tomorrow morning. Family duty calls.

Good to make sure that the bike is in perfect running condition before pushing it on the track. I may have to get a fresh set of sportier rubber as well.

Hi there matjaz, I'm planning a trip to Johor Circuit either on 8 or 9 Feb. Might just be me alone but the trip is confirmed.

Let me know if you're interested.

I run a web blog, and I have videos of how to get there. Check out

If you are still unsure, we can meet somewhere in Singapore and head out together.

Sorry Tortise... I cannot connect your nick to your name anymore; it's been a very long time. Care to re-introduce yourself please?

I may be going to Johor Circuit this weekend, most probably Saturday. If you see a slow black VFR, that's me.

Hi Guys

I might be a bit late for the 19th Jan session but have the same feeling as matjaz :)

I got a Brand new Previously owned GSXR600 K7 and I would love to try some track action.

from the conversation I am guessing that at Johor Circuit there is no advance training courses which I would jump on board.

rhema83 you said

" I would avoid the Track Days at Johor Circuit as it tends to be too crowded. In fact, I love to go the day before or after a Track Day because the track would be quite empty!"

Does this mean you can go there outside trackdays? how does that works?

I checked their webpage http://www.johorcircuit.com.my/

next Trackday is 23RD FEBRUARY 2014

Anyone going?

I Still don't have all track gear but I would join for the tour and meet some other bikeminded folks.

Hi mahuberani, sorry I didn't understood what you mean  .

He is trying to ask you whether you are a westerner (basically non-Asian). "Ang moh" (literally "red hair") is a colloquial (slightly crude, if you asked me) term used to describe westerners.
