I actually saw a harley which is in very very bad condition parked at the harley dealer outside...all rusted sia...

I wonder how it can rust until like that...whole bike rusted badly...never thought it will get into this kinda condition, even with min. effort, cos it's made of good parts and chrome.

hi pls pardon my ignorance, but how do you define "passion" for riding a harley? it is quite a statement and i believe enthusiasts will be more then willing to share their passion here.

before anything goes out of hand, dun get me wrong. im not against anything, since this is a public forum i guess its a good place to discuss... the heritage of harley davidson is quite a handful, the sound of the V twin is distinctive....and of course living the american dream..a symbol of freedom.

juz wondering how does all these relate in a singaporean's context of passion.

thank you....your contribution is very much appreciated.

Singaporean's context of passion = shopping

Singaporean's dream = free (stuff)

Singapore's symbol = kiasu

well some of the points on singaporeans are probably true..but i'll rather not stereotype singaporeans...as im one of them as well :D loving the country is another issue altogether which could get political.

back to the "passion" of harleys topic, well as much as the TV "educates" us americans do embrace their heritage and i believe harleys play a huge part in the american heritage....not only was it built by americans...it served as a reliable war machine in some monumental confrontations as well.

war veterans swear by their harleys and very much popularise harleys in the states after the war as a symbol of independence, freedom and patriotism..probably this will fall into the PASSION category.

ralph "sonny" barger..founder of the infamous hell angels...rode a harley all his life..was enlisted in the army at a tender age of 17... and naturally as american born and bred local MC... harleys are a distinctive bike of choice.

however to quote from one of his book HELL'S ANGELS..."in terms of pure worksmanship, personally i don't like harleys. i ride them because i'm in the club, and thats the image, but if i could i would seriously consider riding a honda st1100 or a BMW."

so my PERSONAL thoughts are harleys are a symbol of status, (widely exploited commercially) and you cannot deny the andrenalin rush you get from the thumping american V TWINS..of course one or two stares when you ride down town...........passion is probably questionable. but i would say DESIRE is more appropriate....

thanks for reading
