It's ok to agree or disagree.

Measures that are senseless or insensible to you is already working in Singapore anyway.

Boycott if you must. If all Singapore petrol station enforce the same rule, you will need to boycott all.

Don't get me wrong too, but your company's dealings with Shell is none of my concern, and irrelevant.

Hai... Why you just do not understand at all?

Like I had mentioned... If this is real and realistic... The goverment will get this regulated under the law way donkey years ago.

Anyway, for the shell business... Singaporebikes does not belong to you. I am posting it loud and clear to forumers that I had nothing to go against shell.

Keep arguing... Its real nice see pointless and ridiculous post.

So if this regulation is introduced by the gahment today instead, you will think it is 'real and realistic'?

Let go.... let God....

So if this regulation is introduced by the gahment today, you will not petition?

Yes.

If it has already been regulated. Nobody will even 'raise' this issue on it since the Goverment has thoroughly evaluated it is a hazard or WILL, cause fire, explosion and static effect that lead to mishaps.

Apologise for the bad attitude.

But you are posting here because YOU think this measure is not necessary right? Or are YOU not happy that Shell is jumping ahead of the gahment? Or are you not happy because you dunno if it is necessary, but Shell decides to play safe anyway?

Before a law becomes directed or approved. I consider this will be brought up in the parliament. It will be like what we are debating and discussing about. So, the ultimate conclusion still establish by the concerned MP. I straightforwardly suppose that before this turns regulated. A spokesman will be represented stating essentials factors of why.

So do you mean YOU are not happy with the PROCESS, and not with the regulation?

I still think you are still confused about the debates. I extracted some comments from website evident it. So? Does it make I am the one who stated the thingies?

And do not deduct what I am not thinking about. And do not jump to conclusion.

YOU get IT!

YOU jumped to conclusion and deducted my comments again. I do not MIX PROCESS and REGULATION together. Its TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

I don't get what YOU are unhappy about. Whatever I have said seems not to be addressing your concern. So I just ask YOU directly, what are you not happy about?

I am still wondering....

To even attempt to address your problem, I have to know what is exactly your problem 1st right?

You do have something to address about this Shell regulation right?

Hey friend, dun hide behind 'other users or bikers'. Which part of this Shell episode are you not happy about? Do you mean after all your postings, you actually think it is no use posting in the 1st place?

I amended previous post.

I am going to debate... But not with somebody that only debates on the left but not exercising right could be correct too. Right and wrong?

So. I hope somebody next can accompany you as you like: debate, argue, friendly exchange or else.

Dunno what you really mean, but I am the one propagating looking at both sides of an equation, remember?

And... whether it's debating with me or not, browsing through the pages, you still have not state clearly what is your unhappiness with this Shell episode. Quoting a newspaper article doesn't say anything.

IF this is actually personal and you think I am being unreasonable, then you should present your grouse plus your reasons to show what was i being unreasonable about, right?

Anyway, this is a biker's forum. I am a biker too. Sparks may fly during debates, but I ain't here to build a fire.

Let me use a very simplified physics model to make my point.

V(x) - electrical potential, R - rider, B - bike, P - fuel pump

Initially, V(R ) = r, V(B) = b, V(P) = 0, r > b,

First, we assume that you cannot be electrically connected to the bike at all unless you are opening the fuel cap, which is the usual case because we only touch the rubber handle grips, and put down the sidestand with our feet wearing insulating shoes. Even if the tank is metallic, there is a layer of non-conducting (or poorly-conducting) paint and lacquer. We also know that we cannot discharge ourselves by putting our feet down because the sole is made of rubber.

Scenario 1:

Let's say you dismount. In the process rub your clothes against the seat and generate more charge.

V(R ) = r + q, V(B) = b - q (conservation of charge)

Then you put the bike on sidestand and therefore ground it.

V(R ) = r + q, V(B) = 0

Now the potential difference between you and the fuel cap or the fuel pump is

∆V = (r + q)

Scenario 2:

Let's say you don't dismount. You open the fuel cap right away. This is the most common scenario. The potential difference between you and the fuel tank is

∆V = (r - b)

After that, the potential difference between you or your bike and the fuel pump is

∆V = b

Scenario 3:

You don't dismount and get the fuel pump first before opening your fuel cap (unlikely). The PD between you and the pump is

∆V = r

You are then immediately grounded via the pump. Next you open your fuel cap and the PD between it and you is

∆V = b

scenario 4 (not happening now):

You dismount and put the bike on sidestand like scenario 1.

V(R ) = r + q, V(B) = 0

Next the attendant pumps the petrol while you wait aside or go buy something. Assuming that the attendant is grounded via frequent contact with the fuel pump, there is no PD betwwen the bike and him.

When you return, the PD between you and anything out there (bike, attendant, pump) is

∆V = r + q

Notice that the highest potential difference always occur when you dismount.

V(R ) = r + q, V(B) = 0

Now the potential difference between you and the fuel cap or the fuel pump is

dV = (r + q)

Let's say you don't dismount. You open the fuel cap right away. This is the most common scenario. The potential difference between you and the fuel tank is

dV = (r - b)

In layman English, in your own words, what is the implication of highest potential difference, as described in scenario 1?

Let go.... let God....

great work dude! :thumb: dun think s-hell know what is joy of riding all about... i'm sure some of you must have the feeling of gently caressing the open air in the cool moonlite night and the feeling of being electrified![on your bike of course, not your 4 wheels cage, k!? sometime one can shock people with their hand somemore :help: so, in reality, motorcyclist must be doing something right by not dismounting thus preventing static discharge all this while!!?? any s-hell safety management ride? o_O
