Bad Servicing Experience @ local Harley Davidson Workshop

My Bike came with a servicing package.

I had to book one month ahead for a servicing date.

On servicing date brought the bike in and waited whole day- Nothing has been done and need to park there overnight.

I can't believe despite paying such exorbitant packages, people are still going there for servicing?

Same experience. That's why I learn to DIY.

Only thing I can't do myself is a tire change and other major engine related repairs.

One thing to note is that they seem to do the right thing, like anti-seize, locktite etc. Non dealer bike shops don't do that and you'll wonder why it's almost impossible to remove the muffler afterwards.

For tire and wheel change they have a rolling machine to check alignment after installation. Personally saw a video of it that the service assistant took to show me how misaligned my front wheel were when I first took over the bike lol

If that is of many cases, cant they give themselves time limit for their own sake. obviously this put them in a bad way. i personally do not mind leaving my bike a week or 2 because after all they are HD specialist. but if say the time limit is over and bike is not ready, them they must compensate.

yeah that's what happen when there's a monopoly.

However I wouldn't want a rushed job and have my chrome scratched, parts not installed correctly etc. Anyone with such experience?

No idea about late collection charge but I won't be surprised if there is.

I believe they are back logged hence the long waits for servicing appointments and delays in getting your bikes back. Interestingly, their back logs are not always because of other customers bikes. Priority goes to their rental bikes. So it really doesn't matter whether your booked in bike is the 1st of the day. If there's a rental in line, your bike takes a back seat. Whatever happened to customers come first? Ain't customers paying for service? They could always hire more techs to ease the back logs since it has been an ongoing event; but who would wanna work for a company that doesn't take care of their staff?

Like Chavez wrote 'that's what happen when there's a monopoly'

There is a list of reliable workshops around. If they continue doing what they do, they may find their servicing business slowing down.

Well, we all have our choices. Ride safe.

Hi Riders,

Same here experiencing long waiting (1 month) to get my bike in for first service.

Just to check on the situation: how many of you guys had your rear wheel bearings fail? Mine died at 30000km and wrecked the shaft and wheel hub. 08 Street Bob.

Did some searching online and found out that it is a very common problem from 08 models onwards

Now I'm getting All Balls bearings, along with new wheels.

Big hole in pocket.

Kinda new to HD engine n all those inches measurements. Trying to DIY n even bought a service manual cd online. Not an easy bike to do simple oil change coz of low profile. Love the RK though...

Funny how Hong Leong has the same kind of high traffic through their workshop or even more yet they are able to keep up. Their workshop also seems to be reasonably priced too as I see a lot of older bikes, RXZ RXK come in for servicing even though they are clearly out of warranty. Very rare to get that in a authorised dealer.

I use an aluminum food tray to collect the used oil and then transfer to a container that can be capped tight. Put it in a few plastic bags, tied it to my luggage rack and offloaded the used oil at the nearest workshop (which happens to be Ace Custom)

Food tray is a good idea... Right now Im slowly collecting inches tools for simple servicing. Also waiting for ebay cable DIY extension kit for e ape bar. A simple buy off e shelf cables will be e last thiing. Hahaha.

Latest update.

Since much feedback has been raised and seems that the Management of Harley Davidson of Singapore is actually taking it seriously. In the past months, the services has improved tremendously and you don't need to wait too long to book a date. You can even just ride in and get your service done for your bike.

Impressive transformation HDS. Cheers to the ever friendly staff who will never stop to smile and say hello to anyone who comes into the store.
