There's one thing to be aware of on the roads.

Never ever remain BESIDES a cager of any kind. U don't ride on his 3 or 9 o'clock and expect him to know you're there. He's supposed to know, yes... but like all SG cagers, they're blind as fuccking bats and won't see you, either for real or selectively. There are some drivers whose mentality says that bikers will always move out of the way automatically if you eat their space.

You could blast your horn, and throttle up to get ahead of him.

But the best thing to do is always be diagonally in front and to the side of them. That way they cannot miss noticing you.

ya la, i was getting out of his blindspot, so happens he sui sui cut in when im beside him. :faint: perhaps my getting out shd be relatively faster ba.

kinda split second decision, im just glad i was prepared for his stunt.

and seriously, even if we are diagonally to their front, they can still play stunt. i rmbr 1 such incident relating to a "jiuhu" (jb) car. also damn pissed then. give way lor, wat to do?

That was what happened to me.

The Mercedes the Indian Lady Driver was in, was diagonally to my left, in the next lane, BEHIND me. No way she could say she didn't see me.

But what to do? Don't give way, want to insist I got right of way = Die.

Super pissed off.

thanks to all who is sharing the videos.

A lot of lessons to be learnt from watching such encounters on the road.

well i dont have a video cam on my bike but i will try to describe what happened a few days back while riding.

was cruising on the e'way 3rd lane at ard 70-90kmh..cant remember the speed actually...hehe when i realized a van similar as in jack oh jack video closing in fast on my side mirror..seeing that i was in relaxed mood still drove at around that speed with the van tailgating..

when i moved to the left of the lane to change to lane 2 the bloody van squeezed past me even when i havent finished changing the lane. i always try to practice soft change lane so does this put us at a disadvantage when vehicles squeeze past us just because we bikers are small and pay less road tax?o_O

dont know whats the rush for the f**ker. He moved in so close that i could literally grab his nose hair KNN...

lesson learnt?

1 - dont screw around with vans.

2 - should have moved to lane 2 earlier when knowing that the van was really closing up on me so that he dont have a chance to tailgate

another thing to point out while riding today, was riding on PIE towards changi today at ard 12++, and realised that nearly all lanes are taken up by vans/heavy vehicles leaving only lane 1 free.

to those who frequent that route, has it always been like this or are all the TP's busy jaga traffic for todays countdown?

It aint me officer...The bike is POSSESSED!!

On the bridge to ECP, with Hamster and gang watching fireworks at midnight, I wished Happy New Year to a chick girl riding at the back of her father's pick up truck while riding. :cheeky:

Then come 01/01/10 I will start to compile snippets of videos on dangerous driving.

Hopefully it can save some lives as part of the campaign to educate why motorcyclists die more in accidents, not because of their fault, but because of the actions of others.

what cam did you use, bro? i also wanted to do the same but NATO so far. hehe..

Should go the extra mile, provide G.E.M.S Service, take out the front brake for free as well.... ....

actually, last time while working as a mac riders, i know of some riders that take out the rear brake. they say the rear brake system is very heavy. especially the brake drums one. then i ask, if brake, how? he said front brake is enough. then i ask, if e brake, how? he said still can la. just need to agak2 better in this situation. and so far, he's still alive.

for me, i never use my rear brake except when e-braking. cos i still think the rear brake is useful to cut me an extra few metres when e-braking.

In basic theory, we learnt --- You mustn't change lane or overtake another vehicle when negotiating a turn at a traffic light junction. This is clearly inconsiderate driving. A clear cut case of breaking of road traffic rules.

The situation is give way or DIE.

woah! 2 of you kena already like that! i just got mine yesterday! was on the expressway from Holeshot. was riding safely at lane 2 as the traffic was smooth throughout. then i don't know how this driver can lane changed from lane 3 to lane 2 so close to me, without seeing me. she was behind me in lane 3 and she's just a lil bit faster than me. and so, she tried to lane change until she's entering my space such that i can just see her pretty stuck up face on a close view. my mistake was to throttle up to escape from her.

i forget that i was riding a kupchai and not my scrambler. instead, i was going nowhere. so, i horned instead and e-braked when she's getting too close to me as i swerved a lil to straddle in between lane 1 and 2 while doing the brakes. if not, her rear confirm brush against my front. at the same time, i was so scared that cars in lane 1 wouldn't notice me and grind my sides as well.

i was so damn pissed that i've did my first road rage ever. i caught back up to her. wanted to show her my middle finger by her side. and if she can't see me just now, i doubt she can see from the side. so, i sped up and overtook her on lane 1 and gave her the finger from her front. wanted to give both hands, but i was already riding at 100km/hr on a small bike. confirm cannot do a no hander.

i don't know if she really wanted to exit but i changed lane as she changed lane to exit from the expressway. as she slowed down to a halt along the exit, before i could fcuk her upside down, she raised her hand apologetically and said sorry. good if she can understand why i am pissed. but it melt my heart when a pretty gal apologised to me already. my only words to her is, "got eyes, but cannot see me is it?" and i rode off. on hindsight, i should have said, "do you know you almost kill me? i demand a date as a compensation." hahahaha...

pretty gal or not. i was so god damn pissed cos that's the only time when i felt i was really gonna die. either being swiped by her and braking won't help or swerve out and being knocked down by a car in lane 1. death never felt so close to me as the year ended.

lesson learnt is never to throttle up on a small bike. can NEVER win. small bike must learn to just brake and let them be.

@Skull_Angel: hahaha! the pedestrians were all over the place...trying to get out i suppose. seriously though, i was very annoyed with those bikes who revved the engine at pedestrians. in my view, that was uncalled for and simply portrays motorcycle riders as people who are bullies and have no patience. its a minus point in my book for riders in general.

@Silent Hunter: a few years time you can try the same place on new years...if still meet then SOLID! hehehe...

but what i learnt is that always apply front brakes more and only use rear brakes when coming to a stop. Isn't that what the school's teach us anyway.

but in emergency braking most of what we learnt goes out the window..haha

anyway different bikes need different braking techniques, previously riding my phantom, i use to use my rear brake heavily causing some hairy moments when my rear tyre fishtailed, that was when, a forumer commented that the phantom is a rear heavy bike and should use front brake more when braking.

jamming the front brake will make the bike lose control as the front tyres will stop spinning but rear tyre spin. experienced it a few time during e-braking inside circuit..kind of scary especially when you feel that you are not in control of the bike.

rear brakes to slow down, front brakes to stop completely.

could it be hard engine braking rather than revving?

the most efficient way to drop your speed is drop gears and brake..

and that will send your rpms shooting high high..

@aRcHeR: if that was engine braking, they would have been flung off the bike already. no...that is certainly unnecessary revving of engines...and i'm talking about bikes like R1 and Busas revving...i'm sure we are all familiar with those sounds.

you're not alone, my friend. this is another reason why i enjoy riding. can see a lot of young pretty gals. that's why most riders make their pillion, most probably gf, wear a tinted visor. partially for the sunlight and also to ensure that other guys cannot check out the gal.

i'm feeling so down!! new year has came. and my first repair on the bike is an overhauled engine! supposed to be the conrod. then, the timing chain and etc also spoiled so they were changed. after fixing back the engine, they test bike and got come out white smoke. means the piston not smooth already until engine oil can enter combustion. llst ask to open back the engine and change the piston as well. total damage is $900 and that's after member's price. sigh..... my next pay is gone. nvm. gonna take back the spoiled stuff from the mechanic and can keep at home as display set. i shall think of it as $900 worth of antiques.
