What if using SG PSB approved helmet to make at about half that price?

Range from 480 to 600SGD using PSB approved helmets, price range depends on choice of helmets.

In regards to the attention that it will get depends on individual.

I think you are talking about modification of an existing approved helmet to look like this, so correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure about the legality, but doesn't modifying on an approved helmet makes it back to "unapproved"? I assumed you will need quite a drastic modification on an existing helmet to look like this.

It's like I bought an Arai, then drill a hole to poke a flag, then it's no longer considered a safe helmet anymore due to the drilled hole (due to all those impact test were carried out before the modification).

Not to mention who will be chasing who on the road... the predator after the enforcer or the other way around... especially in the middle of the night... LOL

But seriously, the TP would not allow such a helmet event if it is a local modification using PSB approve helmet.

It's be a distraction to other road user (and themself of course) but it will be very amusing to see someone zipping around on the road with such a helmet design.

this design that I came across did not modify the original helmet used at all, did not drill any holes for the installation. It uses the original visor hole to secure the front in.

The only thing is remove the clear visor to attach. This helmet comes with the original approved sunglass flip down function to form the eye portion.

to answer ur question, there is no breach of integrity of the approved helmet, its an add on

Think even using PSB approve helmet, once you customize it, it will violate their rule just like you make any changes on your bike without LTA approval...

The so called law that is being made by LTA, any modifications made on a motor vehicle, other than what is initially approved during batch approval stage, can be considered as illegal modifications. This is one of the law set which many of us will know. This may not be the exact words but in the same line.

Then I can safely and surely say, 95% of motor vehicles fall in this area where this law being broken.

Changing to bigger size rims and tires. Even changing any alloy rims, same size will be breaking this law. This is the most common broken law.

Changing nice bodykits.

Changing to various types of number plates.

changing to steel breaded hose

Changing to coloured brake or clutch levers

Adding belly pans, side fairings not original for the bike.

changing handle bars, wider or straight for the so called better handling

Changing to nicer looking mirrors

Many more to name. Seriously, who is not breaking THIS law that LTA sets? It is a matter of who they choose to use this law on. Depends on what their mood is for that day.

Again we are back again to this general law that is being set, causing distraction to other road users.

Causing distraction to other road users........this is to their discretion like

- LED extrernal lights

- flashing brake lights

- HID lights, ( modified on non approved models). But if factory fitted then its not a distraction

etc etc

There are many other distractions on the road which they choose not to classified them under this law.

- pretty gals driving or riding class 2 bikes

- gal pillion riders who are wearing skirts

- scantily dressed pedestrians walking along side of road

- brightly lit warning signs. When they do it, its for safety. When we do it, its illegal mod

Etc etc

Seriously not debating what you say, just a mind opener.

one example of this general law. Dangerous driving or riding and reckless driving or riding. What exactly does this law specify? Basically, nothing. This is a general coverage of whatever law or situation not being covered.

eg

Normal road speed limit 60km/h

Biker stop at traffic light in front

Light turns green

Biker pick up fast. This is to clear the cars starting to move off, which most bikers are doing. But upon reaching 60km/h, maintains speed. This action of pick up fast can be considered as dangerous or reckless driving or riding.
