for me, I will go to this, 2-3k bike,may b more than 10 ys old. look nice, it need to repair for part by part. Then , i will get experience more n pay more also..

 

Normally, I like to change part once a month on my CBR. So I find the things which one shld b change. If not so boring to ride. I spent ard+ 2k during my ownership 1 yr without fuel cost.

 

Then 2-3 yrs later, upgrade again to class2. Then.. Then.. so on ...

 

change bike > repair > ride > repair > ride > >>> that is normal lor

hahah. Well last time when i got my RXK i was liek you lo! hahah nvm lar old old abit nvr.. my rxk is F plater, 26 years old.. and i love that bike..

 

but in the end kept having problems and giving me headache.. so in the end its Brain Vs. Heart.

 

Brain tells me give up the bike, the repairs are costing me too much and FC ain't that good.

 

Heart tells me one more chance.. overhaul 1 time then problem solved le.. cmon 1 more time.. just 1...

 

yea lo.. then in the end brain gang with my wallet and finances to overrun heart. lol

 

my personal experience la.. just sharing lor.. hope people don't make the mistake as i do.. or if you really really wanna. can wait till finances stable then splurge on the bike as much as u want haha.

cos when i go over flyovers it strained it alot. frm 100 drop alot sia.

 

going up slope, RPM maintain or increase, but speed decrease: clutch plates slipping.

but i dont wanna chg my bulbs anymore.. i realised my 12v 25w stanley bulbs not bad leh quite bright leh..

 

so when u think the bulb is deteriorating, just chg a new one la! 4 bucks!

S4 Basic maintenance cost.

 

Lets see. S4, inline 4 engine, 3.2L EO and 4 plugs.

 

Plugs = $8 X 4 = $32 [relatively good NGK plugs]

EO = $ 23 X 4 = $96 [Maxima EO i think is ultra one..]

 

total: $128

 

 

Ok xiao R cbr 150

 

Plugs = 1 x $20 = $20 [those branded, already kena ketok by shop plugs]

Eo = $23 x 1 = $ 23 [same same as s4 la maxima one]

I got too, when I had 125z. 1-2 mnts still good, Then, start to give problem. Every morning, I need to kick 15-20 times...changed plug, change battery,wash curb.... i did servicing a lot time, may b more than 4 times withing 2 mnts. Mech cant solve this. Later I changed wt CBR. Nice bike..!!

wow this is a great idea. I now trying to DIY a rubber seal so when raining that time water dont seep into the under seat comp. I also replaced my seat the rubber into some random vibration gaskets i got off my workshop.

 

For the seat its vibration is reduced. For the water proofing not done yet. lol

 

 

but looking at this scot oiler DIY makes me wanna try leh!

but no diff for me, cos my working hours are from 9 am to 9 pm. so that's 12 hrs. i guess being in the healthcare industry does call for irregular hours.

 

i stayed back for some time cos there was a last min surgery so i was helping the nurses involved in the surgery, to do up their stuff. aft all, everyone help a bit, all can go home earlier too. =)

 

i wanna sell my room's 32" LCD tv and onkyo hi-fi. good quality stuff that havent finish installment even, so its super new. think the money can go into helping out my finances. when my finances are more stable, then buy again next time lor.

 

trust me, its quite mid-end liao.. (for students it may be high-end too). if u are a audiophile and movie buff, this is good stuff!

do you have any experience fiddling w/ car foglights?

i was contemplating to change the front foglight bulbs so went down (on my knees literally) to try to get the bulb out. realise that (1) i duno how to remove the bulb. (2) there is totally zero allowance for the passenger side foglight due to the placement of horn & possibly some air intake inlet.

 

will u be in town this sat afternoon? may popby to become one of yr new bulb testers & shun bian pickup gf from tampines. any others want to join?

What you said is very true actually my friend. But sometimes lucky owners [owners after me] get uber great deal of bargains from me.. Take my oldie rxk, i know there are some imperfections of the bike, so i sourced for nice parts, and pass it together to the new owner so he no need to wrry about kenna chopped into bits and made into soup.

 

As for people who have tight budget.. I would suggest you not buy a bike at all. Because buying a bike or car is not based on 'I calculated, after i spend for my bike i still can save $50 bucks..' kinda situation. Its based on "eh after CPf, and minus this and that, i still can survivie and left about few hundred $$"

 

Same goes for upgrading.. I also wanna buy S4 but the thing is i think of the 3.2L EO and the 4 spark plugs and for some of you all know I'm a very anal bike owner abit abit also cannot, end up for me will be one shot for maintenance will be up to several hundreds for the S4..

 

For my Xiao r, 1L eo, 1 plug. I wanna anal about things also very hard.. maybe anal about the colours of the screws i'm using.. lol and bearing in mind though our bikes are not really much seen OTR as S4, wave , sparks.. but our parts are relatively low cost... Imagine what happens when i melted the headlight of S4 or my tyre of S4 botak and i wanna change into battalx tyres?

 

so.. thats what i think lor.. As for now Je sui etudion et Np [i'm a student @ NP].. I still have about 2 months before my attachment ends.. and when it ends my 500 montly will be gone.. thats why now I'm trying to save for for Annual year 2009's insurance and Roadtax.

 

S4 aint gonna be cheap.. though u have the power and the Vtec.. but as for now, as a no income student, i think i should not upgrade first ba. Same goes to most students out there, unless your mommy n daddo are giving u quite a fair bit a month.

wah shauno, your job seems real cool leh! haha.. but better rest abit more la. cos working with healthcare people is sometimes very tiring because they demand high standards and yet you need to be fast and efficient and stuff like tat. So take good care and rest well if not they ask for IV drip you give them stapler gun.. then GG-fied. lol
