Jack up the wheel and spin it. Funny noise of either grinding or loose bearings moving around and free play in the wheel (wobble) is a good sign. Grease stain oozing out of the axle is a sign of cartridge bearing seal failure which leads to bearing failure quickly.

guys can i noe how izzit to change the bearings..??

If you are thinking of changing them by yourself, I'll advice not unless you have the proper tools.

You'll need to remove the wheel/rim out from the bike and the bearings are hidden in the center hole where the rod is inserted...

Looks something like this...

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

For japanese bikes, it's not difficult, if you have the appropriate tools, and the bike manual, then it's even easier. I would take at least 2 hrs to change my bearings (3x on rear, 2x on front). The typical labor charge to change all wheel bearings is about $30. Mah Motorparts charged me $25, done within 35 mins last week. So to put things in perspective, is your 2 hrs worth $25?

Hiz,

How do i differentiate if the brake pads is jammed, causing the wheel difficult to spin?

Thanks!

If its due to bearing failuer, the wheels will be jerky... Like you try to rotate the rear wheel with gear engaged.

Probably safe up to a certain time provided you dun ride too fast.If worn too much, there will be significant play between your wheel and axle.

WOrst case, your collar directly in contact with the wheel hub, highly impossible unless you really ignore the early symptoms.
