i told him i no money. he smart, he kept quiet .. Until the day i told him i already at pract 5, he everyday nag .. but still he explain to me abt bikes 2strokes, 4strokes.. i some sort knew he already accepted me take up 2B.

made me guilty when he nag every time saying bike dangerous ): then i promise him that after 2B i take class 3..

whatever it is, you should let your parents know what you are doing (:

i believed they loves you more than anyone do right?

For me all along my parents made it clear they dun want me to ride, but after I get my Class 3 my dad die also dun want to let me drive his car. So I tulan, decided to go 2B cause really gian for my own transport. So now since I 21+, although still schooling but already settling my own finances and nv take $ from them liao, I just told them that I will be learning riding.

Lol my mom hear liao nag nag nag. My dad diam diam, cause he know its because he dun let me use the car and also cause he got tell me to get my own transport. But now and then he tells me his stories last time of how he ride b4 and how dangerous it is, trying to disuade me from riding.

Anyway now left 8.01 and TP 21st Nov. Next time whether to buy bike and ride or not I still considering.. cause the dangers are very real and also worried cause if pillion my GF, dunno if I zhai enuff to take care of her. Singapore Drivers and traffic is no joke man. I drive around also will get tulan with other c0ck drivers sometimes.

Bottom line, if you going to ride, you are obligated to let your parents know. Cause you are playing with your Life and its because of your Life your parents sacrificed a lot (finances, freedom, etc.). It's also to let them prepare themselves if anything should happen. It is too cruel to shock them when things happen or when they find out that all this while your life was on the line. Try to think about if someone you really care about is doing this to you (GF, yr own kids nxt time...). If you have proven to them that you have been capable of taking care of yourself and have shown to be responsible, despite their objections they will graciously accept.

All the best~! Dun just make the right choice. Make a WISE decision.

Actually I really think that you should let your parents know about it. Imagine(touch wood) you one day ride and got into and accident then your parents only then find out you ride how would they feel?

Actually now that I ride, I will take special care and my parents will always ask me to ride safely. Now they even sit as a pillion and I will bring them around. Even best they went to temple to ask for blessing. Though they nag, but they mean well.

At least now I got my ride, they keep asking me to out to buy food for them at those funny places -.-''' Then my dad will talk about how to go there using different routes.

my parents don't allow me to take bike license or buy bike.but only allow me to take class 3 and they support me for it.but after getting class 3 i think tat i don have car and i wanted to have transport so i go take 2b and after passing i buy bike.after 1 week of riding my parent found out tat i ride bike as they look down the window even though tat time i never bring helmet back.so sadly theres hot arguments until they gif up and i continu riding till nw for a month liao lor.they are nw ll liao.only nw and then call me ride safely and slow down but i don care sometimes.

never brought it up to my parents that i got my bike licence. just took got my licence just buy. till now they don't know that i got a bike. lol but got a few times whereby i drove past my dad but luckily he didn't see me. that 1 almost wet my pants.

but thinking if what if i get into an accident and i die. what would they think. that's something i feel its a reason that you should let you parents know. but......

hehe scared tell liao ask you to sell. waste money.

but to me will always have to tell parents.. feel that its our responsiblity ... not tell liao sure 100 % ask u sell ma.. 50/ 50 % ... becos do liao then tell.. chances are higher =] thats wad happen to me when i enrolled.. hahahas!

rather do things with them knowing. so both sides feel safe ..

Same as me my mum also dont wanna me to learn bike

But i also go take little did i realise 3 years + already.

no longer do stupid stuff already as long as u dont do stupid stuff

and be more alert u will be 95% safe

me no problem. Just told my parents I wanna buy a bike.....as expected, mum objected.....dad says ok....bec he also ride bike:D.

But, I think everybody here knows why parents object; simple saying; flesh covers metal. We all know all the dangers; 2 wheels; environment(rain/oil/sand); other riders/drivers and last but not least urself. I myself would not advocate any one to ride a bike given a choice; if no choice; then to understand fully what riding a bike means. It just takes one accident to bring home the saying. In my initial of learning(my dad taught me), I lost the skin on my knees. When I got my licence; hit a car due to not familiar with road conditions; skidded taking a turn on a rainy day; almost got hit making a turn due to poor judgement. Since those incidents, I've learned to `play safe' and not be a hero........bec heroes die young or suffer horribly. I've learned never to run a bike when u're moody; never to take unnecessary risks; learn to avoid potential risky situation. Never hurry; if u're late, u're late....saving a few minutes vs a higher risk of accident is just not worth it. I always tell pple; driving cars req'd 4 eyes....riding bikes req'd 8 eyes.

actually it's possible..

I only let my mum know after i BROUGHT the bike home..

Den promise with all ur heart u will ride safe..

Haha i think it's also best to tell them b4 you enroll. Confrim will have a lot of disagreements de. But then no choice, at least you tell them better then the police inform then right?

Some more on the road even thought 200% careful le, drivers still play another factor. I almost got knocked by a car when the car forgot to check blind spot and i was riding beside him for quite a while. Luckily his wife saw me and ask the driver to slow down or i dunno what will happen sia. I also encounter 1 driver dunno where to turn then weave in and out of traffic and almost knock into me and other rider. See, that's the danger of us riders, so must becareful.

My 2c...

If you ride responsibly you are not in any greater risk of getting into an accident than you would be if you were driving a car... However you are in much greater risk of sustaining serious injury...

After reading this entire thread, I can't see why nobody has suggested that young people explain to their parents that they will ride safe AND wear the appropriate protective gear... I.E. Airbag jacket (Motoair)... gloves... full face helmet....

Any bollocks excuses to it being too hot... or too uncool... is just that....

It is possible to Minimise the risks that come with riding.... down to an acceptable risk level...

Get a proper jacket... leather gloves and a fullface... and live with the fact that you smell after every ride....
