i personally feel that whether a shop is a 'plus' or a 'minus' depends on the individual.

u come across as someone who has some experience in diy. for me, not only is this my first c2 bike, but i admit i am a complete cuckoo when it comes to diy, so for me any 'reliable' shop confirm can do a better job than if i were to diy myself. of coz i'd like to learn some diy, but i rather start wif small things like those mentioned in owner manual, rather than those mentioned in service manual. but if u experienced in diy, then a shop that 'works' for me might not necessarily work for you.

some more for ppl who want to do at shop, also depends what the person consider as 'plus' and 'minus'. some people want cheap and dun care quality of workmanship; some people demand outstanding workmanship and dun care how much money need to fork out. thats what i mean by 'plus' and 'minus'.

so in that sense, i rather let shop do the work, and i looking for shop that caters to wat i need. i certainly not saying that u shd go to shop rather than diy. in fact i'm asking around here precisely becoz i donno which shop suits my need.

btw guys, i just changed my signal light at regina. decided to stick to the original design coz regina claim all other designs must mod the fairing which i decided dont want. i noe buzz u said urs and some other designs no need any mods, but regina claimed theirs all need some drilling. watever.

but the 'original' design that regina sold is actually 'chiong' and only $20 per side (excluding installation which is an additional $8), and it is identical to the 'original', right down to the brand and serial number engraved on the orange cover. i suspect its actually the same thing except that regina buys straight from the light manufacturer which supplies honda and the other motorcycle manufacturers with their lights, whereas if u buy the 'original' $60, its bought from the official honda supplier. this is speculation on my part, but well the $20 'chiong' one is identical, so works for me. this just info for other cbr brothers who need to change their lights for some reason or other.

as for sliders, decided to stick to motovation brand after all, and had them installed at k&t for total of $90. the puig is nicer hands-down, and at regina even got '05 R6 (think belong to a staff at regina) with puigs so was able to see how nice it was compared to the plain and chunky motovation. but in the end i decided to take motovation after all because somehow i get the feeling the chunky motovation sliders would be stronger in protecting my bike as compared to the puig, which appeared to me like a pretty but fragile thing, like for looks only. (Disclaimer: this is only my opinion as a consumer based on how they look, it is in no way a claim that puig sliders do not work at what they do).

oh and forgot to add: the mech claim the '05 cbr600rr even easier to install the sliders coz for the '05 model, they moved the rectifier out of the way and positioned elsewhere, whereas on the 03/04 model they'd have to remove rectifier while installing the slider.

the hole drilled on fairing will cut through the "cbr" wording a little bit, as shown:

http://www.picturesky.com/albums/userpics/10982/cbr6slider.jpg

talking about mileage....i think it is not accurate to ask how far can someone's bike goes b4 hitting reserve...cox the reserve light may blink at dfferent fuel levels...

in fact, the sensor is adjustable...

for my bike, the light starts blinking at 13litre...

i have taken measurements a few times already, and i can tell accurately that my bike's fuel consumption is 15.2km/litre

how about urs? how about others? guess mine is at high consumption side.... :weep:

measured mine durin run-in period so not too accurate either.

tat time full tank can run 220click includin reserve.

i rarely wait till almost empty den top up petrol, seldom see the blinkin fuel gauge effect. :cheeky:

so i presume you did your sliders at k&t too right?

total cost?

This is my fuel consumption. Mine is the '04 model. Average Singapore road-riding conditions. RPM Below 5,500 & speed 100-110km/h.

Condition Distance Reach B4 Reserve Reserve Till Empty

1) Totally Stock 280km 65km

2) Stock With KNN Filter 275km 60km

3) With Yoshi Slip On + KNN 265km 50km

4) With PC3,Yoshi & KNN 270km 60km

Based on my knowledge, the '05 model seem to have a higher fuel consumption even in stock condition. Is it true? Cos have a few friends who complain that... Maybe we can discuss more?

calculating ur fuel consumption is very simple:

everytime u pump petrol, reset one of the mileage counters of ur bike to zero.

always pump full tank: all the way to the level where the fuel just touches the lowest metal plate near the fuel inlet.

and then the next time u pump petrol, pump full tank back to the same level again.

note down the mileage accumulated (the one that u set zero ealier on).

note down the total amount of petrol that u have just pumped (shown on the receipt).

u can calculate ur fuel consumption now....regardless whether ur reserve light is blinking or not. u can even do it at half tank.

try a few times until u get consistent results. mine is 15.2km/litre, with plus/minus 0.2km/litre.

i think this is pretty bad... toyota vios can do 15km/litre too

the holes on my fairing were drilled by looi's motor (even b4 i touch my bike for the 1st time!)...cox i bought the bike from them n i requested a pair of free sliders.

unfortunately, they dun use motovation but some sliders fabricated locally.

the quality is very "good"....rock hard nylon plastic!

it defeat the purpose of sliders (made from softer material so that it can slide during a fall).

so i reinstall motovation sliders at unity (bt merah) at $65/pair.

im not sure how much workmanship they will charge if i dun have any pre-drilled holes.

but i guess, if u do other things like engine oil, filter, etc at one time, they probably won't charge u further.

again, im not very sure, u hv to chk it out urself.

cheers :bounce:
