By the way guys, just wanna share some experience I had.

Yesterday, I had to bail my friend out around noon at the TP HQ. At the point when he called me, I was a bit shocked as to how a safety rider like him could land in there. He rides an R6 by the way, but as far as I know, he doesn't go above 110 in S'pore roads. I wanted so much to hear his story & after done so, I begin to wonder what really went wrong.

In the early morning peak hour he was squeezing through cars at the Benjamin Sheares bridge going towards Tampines cos he works at the east. He didn't realise at one point, he had passed a Highway Patrol car. So when the jam eased up somewhere near the Tanah Merah area, the H.Patrol stopped him & said they had been tailing him from Benjamin Sheares. Without giving any chance to explain himself, he was promptly arrested ON THE SPOT & taken to Ubi HQ for dangerous driving & statement taking. Ends up he had to turn up late for work & in 2 weeks, he have to return to Ubi to face charges.

As for his bike, he had to leave it at the shoulder & call tow it back to his house.

ai yo.... must be very alert next time.

i always avoid riding behind lorry or big truck..... have seen metal pieces fell down many times already..... :giddy:

I am always alert while riding, but the thing is that the incident happens too suddenly and quickly that i believed no one with watever skill could have avoided that. That area on the expressway was only 2 lanes with me travelling ALONE except when the RX-K overtook me.

The lucky part is that the junk didn't hit me directly on the bike like fuel tank (it was flying at least 4 metres high) when it lands or even worse my chest and cause me to fall and skid on the expressway. I was already wobbling when it hit me at the side.

what were the exact circumstances?

the normal squeezing thru standstill or very slow traffic, or was it weaving at high speed thru normal traffic? and wat speed was he at?

exactly wat set him apart from the usual squeexing that we all do until he got arrested?

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Dunno about it mayte.

Normal squeezing through standstill traffic. If he was weaving in & out, I would understand that. Think speed would be in the range of 40-60 i think. (If you're skilled enough, you could even squeeze through at 80-90km/h but I didn't think he would have done that. He's a very safe rider)

I wish I knew. Poor guy...

Hello everyone,  i'm thinking of getting a 600 ASAP, any places selling cheap cheap???:cheeky:

It's doesn't matter how fast you can go, becos at the end of the day it's the size of your bike that counts.

But it does matter how low you CAN go, becos in the end it's the size of your BALLS thats counts.

Guys, will switching on the HISS indicator light causing the battery flat faster?

These two days i noticed that i need to press and hold the starter button a while more before the engine can run...

Bike is less than 6 months from showroom, how come battery flat so fast?

or could it be other problem?

i am 25. i did my scouting in July.

Mah and Looi's quoted me 21k otr.

i bought my bike at Albert for 18k otr.

a general sentiment is the big shops like Mah and Looi's will quote higher, but more upfront about everything and more reliable for after sales. the smaller shops will quote u less, but might be shady and might have poor after-sales.

brand new bike mebbe can risk any after-sales snafu, but that would be your call to make.

**forgot to mention, prices quoted to me based on insurance for above 30**

wah u got all this? the slider drilled for u free? and free after market windshield?

but then again, mine for 1.8k less dun have these stuff quite ok i guess.

which reminds me, all these stuff make sure get in writing before sign anything. i was denied a free helmet coz my dad "didn bring it up when buying". technically true, but goes to show u need to get all these in writing. and my fren was promised free sliders for his GSX-R600 by another shop, bought in march, until today also the slider "stock on the way". goes to show the value of going to a reliable shop. i mean, slider also they can stall until like that, what more if bike break down want to claim warranty or something.

awhile more is how much longer more?

can turn the HISS light off. i cuckoo wanted to reset trip meter, go and press the 'ADJ' button instead of the "RES" button and turned off the HISS light. next 2 days i wondering how come my bike spoil so fast, turn ignition on HISS light will blink, turn off wont blink anymore. check manual and i went "oh! HISS light can enable/disable...." :cheeky:

u mean they offer u a fireblade quote that is 4k diff from other shops, but they give free exhaust?

not called 'free exhaust' anymore.....

dont be tempted by 'free exhaust'. an akra full system costs under 2k. if really the otr price until 4k diff then forget about the 'free exhaust'.

as for reliability, well i cant comment because i never went back for after-sales or any other servicing, only monthly instalment. brand new bike, hasn given me probs. which was precisely my 'gamble': if i dun need after-sales service, it wont matter to me the quality of said service.

but the way u say, i think perhaps u've done as much scouting as u possibly could, and come up same conclusion as we did: big reliable shops, higher quote; vice versa. if u're hoping we have a magic shop with low quote and reliable service, we dun have any.
