Hi there bros,

I am currently riding a Cbr 600rr 2008 model. Just got it about a month ago. Superb close gear rationing.

Pick up and torque excellent. However, just today I found out that my bike has a power cut ( speed limit ). I can clear the rpm until 15,000/min. Tried on first and second.

However when I went on to 6th gear, I could only rev until 10,000rpm. The speed reaches 190km/h and kinds of fall back. My friend tell me is a power cut and I also asked my mechanic, he said its a JDM spec model and the limiter can be removed.

Can any bros out there share their experiences with this problem and how to resolve this prob? How can I remove this limiter thing. Already had a 2 brothers slip on. I highly recommend to everyone (new V.A.L.E M2 Carbon fibre model ).

Forgive my ignorance cos haven been in touch with bikes for some time. Much appreciated if any bros out there can help me out with this prob. Would I have to change the entire ECU or the limiter can be removed from the speedometer.

Cheers,

Sam

Any bros have any idea which 2 wires to extract from the ECU?

I found out that I have to remove the restrictor plates that sit between throttle body and head. And also have to remove the restrictors from Ram Air Tubes. A slip on exhaust is a must. Japanese insulator replaced with after market ones.

Now I just need to know which 2 wires to extract from the white and black box.

Any ideas bros? Help is much appreciated. Bro ahduck can give a helping hand?

Cheers,

prankster.. have u done the proper maintence for ur forks ? like change the oil.. as for the shock.. normally stock shock cant be rebuilt so u'll have to go for a total replacement..

Hmmm... No.... Haven done any maintenance to my forks or suspension....

Coz i remember someone once told me that forks do not need servicing until u can spot oil leakage.... Seems like the person may be wrong...

Btw, issit possible to service the stock suspension? Forks confirm can service. Need to find out more before i go for my servicing. So i can do settle this prob.

get it checked bro by ur trusted mech..

i wud recommend Bikelab if u were to ask where :thumb:

Bro, thx for the reccommendation. I went thru the website. It is fabulous i muz say. Most prob i'll be going to bikelab for future servicings. Haha...

Guess my usual "servicing center" is really not that up to standard. But than they got lots of big time racer with lots of medals. Makin me think twice now.

Btw, i'll gif bikelab a call to check if they have my preferred EO, if they have it, than i guess i'll gif them a chance to service my bike and watch out for the workmanship and friendliness of the shop.

Once again, thx bro!

Suspension

Both front and rear suspension contains oil therefore it definitely needs servicing just like ur engine. I would recomend to do it annually. Please take notice that suspension works are more tedious than engine works therefore it needs proper tools or shall i say special tools and a clean room or clean working bench at least. Servicing suspension is not just about changing the oil. There is more of it which only a well trained certified suspension mechanics are able to do the job the proper way. Not all workshops here in sg have that so call certified suspension specialist. Let alone a clean room exclusively equipped with proper suspension tools. So far i only encounter 4 certified suspension specialist here in sg. And only 1 workshop here has the most advanced tools/machine for suspension. And it will cost much more if u have ur suspension serviced at there places. Eg. to full service ur front fork can cost u up to 300 or more at these special workshop against about 100 at normal workshop.

Btw all stock suspension (front and rear) can be modified eg adding gold valve, etc..

Cheers

Bro ah duck, the link you gave me was awesome. Removal of the restrictor plates that limits the intake manifold made a great improvement. Removing the rubber restrictors at the RAM air was also an improvement in power.

But my main question is is there any wire to remove so as to totally remove the speed limit. Or rewiring ?

Cheers bro,

Sam

i think you're referring to 'rev-limiter' which yes most bikes have, to prevent abuse of the engine. this one is when the throttle shuts itself off when you hit a certain rpm level, usually a little past the redline. i donno the exact mechanics of this, but the throttle shutting off abruptly was exactly how it felt like when i experienced it.

power-cut is deliberately reducing the power output of the engine. japan deliberately installs this to its sportsbikes above 600cc for its local market, and installs a similar device to their hayabusa, zx-14r and blackbird for all markets to limit their speeds to 300kmh.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

There is someone out there for me

Can you tell me her name?

This life-long search is gonna drive me insane

How does she laugh?

How does she cry?

What's the color of her eyes?

Does she even realize I'm here?

u got 1st hand 09 at 20k and 1st 08 at 24.5k?????

why the price different so big??? will it be 24.5k for 09 model and 20k for 08 model (comparing within the same bikeshop)

Yen is going up high unless bike shop want to clear stock if not 09 model shld be at 21k above. beware when bike shop tell u that they have cbr09 model because my fren got cheated from a bike shop telling him that 09 red model is avilable then pay about 21k then in the end i dunno how he found out that actually is a late 08 model.

There is not much different from a 08 and a 09 model just the outlook only... 09model full fairing cover, if you put slider is a must to drill hole in your fairing, 08 model is open if you wear short while riding you might hurt ur legs against the engine. so by getting either of the model is fine to me as long as i like the color / design. The price do matter as naturely ppl will get a lower price bike unless too much $$$ or die also must have that model.

Anyway no point talking about the price here if you cant decide what model of class 2 you want. I guess u did go around asking for suzuki and yamaha, so make up ur mind before u move on. Set a budget and price for your bike like how long u plan to loan, down payment for ur bike, remember when u got ur bike 1st month u have to fork out alot of $$$ to service change MO and etc... also think about petrol (full tank for 600cc about $25 average), think about road tax and insurance and alot alot more.

So end of the day ask very detail for ur bike from bike shop, check carefully and ride safe :)
