New DVD writer giving me problems HELP~~~!!!

I just bought a LG 18x Super Multi DVD Rewriter to replace my old Sony CD RW Model CRX230E.

 

After installing the hardware, my computer cant even BOOT! It says sth like:

"System disk boot failure. Pls insert system disk"

 

I went to BIOS and deactivated all forms of boot EXCEPT Hard Disk but still cannot!!

 

My comp specs are Intel Celeron 2.4gHz, 512MB, Video 128MB, 80G hard disk.

All within recommended specs for the writer.

 

When i revert back to my old SONY CD-R, the comp can boot again. When I deactivate all writers, oso can work.

is that any CD in ur drive?

if don't have then checked the jumper setting on all ur device. is best to put them in cable select.

if still cannot means ur drive is DOA.

how is your hardisk n CD-rom connected??

r they using the single ribbon or using two ribbon connection??

if they r using the single ribbon connection,

check the back of your dvd-writer,

pull out the jump and set it to slave.

 

otherwise use two ribbon connection on each ide.

your dvd-write is probably set on master, so it crash with your harddisk setting.
