Hi guys,

I would like to enquire does anyone have experience with this. I bought a new exhaust and I went for the inspection 1month 1day after the date of purchase. LTA send me a letter and fine me for $50. I had appealed lots of time due to a vicom inspector told me I had one and a half month grace period to inspect the exhaust. But according to LTA they only give you one month grace period. I just find it rather ridiculous to get fine for a false information given by vicom. So now I have to attend court for this issue. Anyone could tell me what's the possible outcome?

I didn't pay the fine because I did get it inspected by one and a half month based on the vicom inspector info. I appeal to LTA about it and till now I receive a letter to attend court.

you will have no choice now but to attend court i guess. chance are you will be paying a higher fine or if the judge buy your explanation then maybe you get off the hook. it really depend on how the judge see the case. just try to show you are remorseful and hope that the judge took pity on you.

VICOM is not exactly a reliable source for information as many here does get conflicting information from them and that your first mistake i guess. secondly, ignorance is an unfortunate event but not an entitlement. so straightly speaking, that is not a reason at all for appeal. they might grant it on compassionate ground and that about it.

next time if you have any doubt, do drop LTA an email. good luck.
