Hi X8ers,

Just to check with you guys if you encounter this problem....when I slow down to almost 20km/h then I twist trottle to speed up again, my bike will vibrate alot and there will be like a dragging sound in the engine. Is this normal? Please give me your feedback.

Hey Busytiger, come and join us for the Malacca trip la. Its not that far and we are planning juz a leisure ride as opposed to chasing time riding. It will be fun if more bikes joined in. Its still in planning stage and you are welcome to join in the planning  I was thinkin of meeting tis Fri evening

Hi Busytiger,

I encounter this problem if i dont warm up my bike before moving off. or when i try to pick up speed after i close throttle fully when slowing down.

When you are slowing down, dont close throttle fully. If not when you try to twist hard to pick up speed again, u will feel the vibration.

Yup. You should see me at Keeny's shop in the morning around 9.30am. As to Friday, I will try to come but if it rains, that means I won't appear lah coz I don't like the idea of riding in the rain except no choice. :sian:

Hi Marcus welcome to the scooter community  X8 and X9 shares the same engine. Other than that its not really the same. The outlook is different and so is the storage space. X8 has less electronic gadgets.

There aren't anymore new X9 200 in production. So its quite difficult to lay ur hand on a 1st hand X9 200. For X8 there are a lot of shops selling it. Word of advice is get from the authorised dealer of Piaggio. I got mine from ASP Changi. Its $8200 otr. The price differ with insurance. If you are younger then the price is higher. Mine is 2nd party + fire and theft and im 32 so my insurance can be quite low. I also get the usual freebies like helmets, raincoats and bike cover.

If u have further queries u can post in here again and we will try to help as much as we can

Hi marcus,

Basically x8 n x9 are both using the same engine.

Difference:

1) outlooks eg. compartment space, seat, box, side mirror

2) x9 got digital parts, x8 all analog

Think most of the guys in the forum brought it around 8k+. depend on your insurances too.

The cheapest place that you may get, should be that shop in angmokio, but pls beware cos they got serious attitude problem. Try asking around before u buy.

Basically X8 & X9 are roughly the same as they use the same "leader 200cc" engine. However, new X9s only come in 250cc. And if you are looking for a new bike, X8 would be the choice.

X9 seems to be more electronically inclined and is a bit heavier than X8. Being more electronically inclined, it also means that you have to take more care as when constanly subjected to "bad" weather, they could affect the gadgets in X9. On the other hand, X8 is more basic and should can stand "bad weather" better.

On the "looks" department, the X9 looks more sporty while the X8 looks more bulky. Storage wise, I feel X8 can carry more stuff than X9 although they are almost the same.

Price wise I think X8 should be in the region of 8k+ first hand and whether is X9 or X8 second hand, it should be around 5.5k to 6k. But this depends also on mileage. As X8 is a newer model, there are not many 2nd hands around though.:cheeky:

You can test ride the bikes at Piaggio at Genting Lane if you are keen to feel the engine.

wah $7800 sounds good. but you got to check with them if it include GST, the cashcard unit, agreement fee n other stuff.

If all included then should be a good price.

I got mine at 8.6k with first party insurance, some freebies and 5 free service inclusive of engine oil change. But I think price is one thing. The most important thing is if he is an authorised distributor. If so then talk lah. If not anything happen to the bike, the shop will start pushing the responsibility around lor.

I am also quite worried abt such things

so how much is the installments you guys are paying?

I paid 2k as a deposit and took a 2 yr loan lah at 5%. Think 5% quite standard although I have heard 4% before.

Actually it all depends on how long you want to pay the installment rite.

I did got my for 4% interest. got to bargain with the bikeshop.

Considerig a change to x8 but was wondering if i can cap the instalment to under 200 per month

If you calculate.

Assuming OTR $7800, assume 4% interest pa. assume downpayment $1000

Payable in 3 year definately exceed $200 per mth

But if payable in 4 year then can below $200 per mth
