Poor power, bad efficiency, engine oil smell heavily of unburnt fuel, burn engine oil (oil vol drops), smokey exhaust.

Poor compression is a result of bad piston rings or bad valve seal. Need a rebuilt.

rebuild as in the whole engine over haul or just top overhaul?

Simple .... do a compression test lor. The gauge will be fitted into one of your s/plug slot and crank start the engine leaving the rest of the s/plug on. The reading you get will be compared to the manufacturing spec. In between the spec you are safe ...below you will be spending money liao

They'll pretty much have to disassemble the block to access the piston ring. Go to shop to do the compression test, the gauges are not cheap.

Here are the results of my 1993 Zephyr750, I have done 6 tests.

Test 4, Test 5 and Test 6 was conducted with adding some engine oil to the combustion chamber. The 2 red lines are the upper and lower limit specified in the service manual

It was a DIY job, I bought the gauge at around S$80:thumb:

It's simple as long as you can screw a nut, and read a scale.

Go buy the gauge, then I can borrow from you

Yes, it is relatively simple:thumb:

I bought it from overseas but the last time I went to the motorcycle tools shop located at Tekka market second floor, they have a few types ranging from $30+ to $90+

Some points to share with you when doing a compression check:-

- make sure your battery is healthy and strong because you will do some engine cranking, I connected my bike’s battery terminals to my car’s battery using a jumper cable so that my bike starter motor will get a stable voltage to ensure a consistent cranking rpm.

- if your engine has more than 1 cylinder, remove all the spark plugs of the rest of the cylinders when you do the compression test
