Regarding total loss claim.

Okay, here is my situation. To make it short, I met with an accident 2 months back and my bike was declared a total loss. Due to the bike still under hire purchase, I've decided to let the bike shop do my claim for me. What they told me was they will claim a market value for my bike, but 2 months have passed and all they told me everytime I called was, "we will get back to you when it's done" they can't even give me a rough gauge how long will it be.

 

All I want to know is how long will it take approximately for a total loss claim to be done because I'm still paying for my bike installment, I want to know the progress of things. I understand that liability claim done by law firm would take a slightly longer duration, but I believe for total loss claim it wouldn't take as long right. So I hope someone could give me some advice on what to do.

If you read the insurance claim thread, i read that it takes about few months to 2 years. Hope you will hear from them soon.

mine is around 1 year.

small case, driver's fault. hospitalizes 7 days, laceration only.

my friend took 2-3 years claim 99k, major one, ICU some more.

 

so sometimes depend on the each case, and law firm as well

But I understand that liability claims and total loss claim is done by 2 different sources. My liability claim is being done by a law firm whereas the bike total loss claim is done by my bike shop.

my accident claims can celebrate 1st anniversary. my claim only 11K, bike repair 8K, injuries 3K. The other party only willing to pay 7K.

 

So the case drags on. the higher the claim the longer it will drag... unless you have solid evident like witnesses, Vids and TP on the spot investigation in your favor.

Law firm does not just handle the liability. They will also handle the claim for the total loss.

 

or rather, without the confirmation on liability, how does the insurers know how much they are paying you?

btw its nt about whether any witness in it. mine with witness also drag 2 years plus and still going on to 3rd year. the reason was the driver nv admit hitting me.

So funny that you pay such a high price for insurance and when you really go for a claim the company acts like a ****. Remember insurance company is a business model for making money , they aren't herr to secure you. Bitter fact !!
