It was during one of the 5 lap race... and was going into Turn One really hot coz I wanted to take the ang moh from the outside, but he drifted out off line abit and I had to pull up to avoid hitting him and then pull back into the corner again.

If it was the CBR1000RR, I think it would have ended up with an unscheduled meeting with the tyrewall. :giddy:

The handling of the bike changed when I put on the Marchesinis. Easier to turn the bike in the tight corners and can hold a tighter line through the faster corners. Found out last weekend at the go kart track that I could take the 100 kmh sweeper now at 110 kmh with the new rims. :thumb:

have seen some really fast sm riders in pg so far.

honestly... really got the head scatching going for me when i was first over-took by 1.

Scenerio:

*imagines me knee-ing off with bike screamin near red-line*

*a happy go lucky guy on a sm took me by the outside easily*

*me mouth open bigbig... mumbling 'wtf?'

eh wait... the low rumbling of the bike... wtf? not even at high rev!

Pengz. hahahahahahhaha

You sure it's not the rider who's improving? :cheeky:

Somehow when you are chasing some other highly experienced motard rider around the track and you see his bike's rear wheel stepping out during quick downshifts and hard front braking into the corners and then again stepping out during hard accelerations in the midst of the corner... you won't panic so much when your own bike does the same dance.

The bike will definitely step out and slide its rear when you change directions and gun the throttle at the same time. The trouble with this is it is very infectious. Can get a kick out of using this method to quick steer the bike.

So much so... I crashed out at the go kart track today whilst chasing someone. Overshot a tight left handed U turn corner whilst coming out coz had too much throttle too early and the bike did not slide its rear as plannned and did not want to complete the turn and I went off the tarmac whilst still leaned over.... lowsided very fast in a very big cloud of desert dust.

Other than my ego being badly bruised and being totally covered in desert dust brown... the Ascerbis handleguards, front Motovation and back SME axle sliders and the footpeg sliders( self made from kitchen plastic chopping board) did their job. Left glove got a hole and chin guard of my IXS full face got some road rash.

But needless to say.... after wiping off the dust from the bike and myself.. I was messing it up with the other motards for the next 2 hours, scaring them and myself on the track.

PS - The DRZ400SM is one tough bike. If I had been riding my CBR1000RR like before, pack up and go home liao...pocket going to tear.

Heading for this one in 2 weeks time. (Sep 21 - 23)

USD$25 ticket for 2 days of racing inclusive of pit pass.

Will be staying at the Buffalo Bill Hotel Casino. A section of the hotel's carpark will be sectioned off and used as the track.

Should be interesting. :thumb:

from wad I noe, riding mx or sm teaches u how to handle a bike better... I'm still riding my sportbike, but just got it back after a long time due to some problem wit my engine... yet to try on the track wad difference has all the SM rides got for me on my sporty...

Anyway, the All Great Datok Shah came to Nusajaya track last weekend and flirted around wit his junior's DRZ... boy was he fast and good... Hanging off every turn dat comes round... :thumb:

So.... the Holy Devil is indeed doing some secret training of his own. o_O

No wonder he asked me to train hard here coz he said he will give me an ass whooping on the track when I return. In his words....

"I will BLAST you on whatever bike you choose to race with me, after the Americans have blasted your rear end". :giddy: :faint:

Ride it like a sportsbike, hang out and knee slide and when in doubt... gas it!!!

Light enough to downshift into a rear wheel slide into the corners and then light enough to powerslide out when you gun the throttle wide open.

Its really a good bike to learn how to handle and initiate rear wheel slides and lockups... these things I dare not do on my CBR1000RR before.

And you can try all kinds of lines into the corners, brake as late as you dare... the most is stand up on the footpegs and go scrambling in the gravel pit and come back out again.

Every track day here... I overshoot corners at least 4 or 5 times a session. But hell.. thats the only way to go fast in the corners.

Stock suspension setting is way too soft for track use, guaranteed to rear wheel slide when entering high speed corners.

You will need to do a suspension sag check first and then stiffen up both damping and rebound.. by at least 4 clicks. (works for me.. 65 kg, pefect BMI  )

You can get more info about the bike by joining here....
