Not true le. People who dun ride or drive always view bikes or cars simply just a transport mean - your bike is not part of you. Given the number of ppl taking mrt, they are the majority.

 

That's why my relatives dun understand why I wash bike.

Its the people who does not have neither. Just like how a computer geek pretty much would pimp out his pc and customize it while others would just buy a complete with no additions. But then again everyone personalized their computers with their set of icons, background, screensaver and etc. Just go compare your cellphone with others using the same make and model. There will be differences. Point is everyone likes to personalize their stuff. It is an extended part of them be it for convenience, performance or just plain aesthetics. Otherwise we would be living in a black and white world.

Why not we gather together, set aside 1 day we can all meet and talk abt this bidding thing? Actually i am not really sure abt this whole damn thing, any experts, as bikers spread the word around, we bikers must be united though it will be difficult, so any suggestions? I believe everyone is not happy with the bike coe. We should not just sit around, do nothing and continue get screwed by pay and pay and all the greedy MAJOR bike dealers. We need someone who is well versed in coe and its bidding, if anyone can do that, i am all for it, so what say u guys?

For example, If more then 70-80% are unhappy with the COE and they feel that COE should exit more then $2,000.00, shown it in this poll. Then someone should stand up from here to refer to the LTA to look into this matter rather then blame on each other! The government wants to hear from you guys and work towards a better future, if you feedback majority(more than thousands) disagreed on unreasonable high COE. I think "ha" they will look into it rather then they will tell you minority are not happy and majority is still very happy and can afford with the COE now or higher!

 

So guys spread around get friend who want to buy a bike or own a bike to vote! Help those uncles that dun know how to use computer to vote!

COE system very simple actually. You bid what you can afford. It automatically controls prices based on what people can afford. People bidding $5,500 simply means they can afford that. Car COE also like that what, from 10 years ago people can afford 8k so they bid 8k. Now people can afford 80k so they bid 80k. You can complain all you want, but the whole point of the system is to price people out of vehicles to control their population. Its quite unfair but thats the way it has been for years. Just simply stop bidding so high.

EXACTLY. The people who want to buy the bikes are the ones going, "Oh $4k COE isn't so bad, I'll get a bike with one of those please." If instead they just go, "I'm willing to pay $800 for a COE and thats it" then the bike shop LLST have to bid $800 non-guaranteed of course. The fact is, many more Singaporeans are affluent nowadays and this is leading to a trend of bigger bikes. And with a bigger bike, the COE doesn't bother them so much cos the machine price is already high so $2-3k more isn't that much of a difference to them. If you were rich and wanted to buy a Busa at lets say $25k machine price, $4k coe on top is $29k. 1/6th of the total price. So it doesn't bother them. If you weren't rich and wanted to buy a Spark at $3900 machine price, COE at $5500 is almost 2/3 your total price. So it bothers you a lot.

If all buyers try to control themselves and stop buying bike for a month or 2, what will the COE be?

Not "people", but the bike dealers. They are bidding with their customers' money, so of course they'll bid high.

 

People kia shu so mati mati must bid higher, see the last few minutes to closing time at 4 pm, the COE from $1/-, shoot up to afew thousand dollars.

Whether ppl care about it or just busybody and at the same time there is three option that may represent 2, 2A & 2B riders, some are riding a very basic bike and they do not wish to pay COE that is above the bike cost but some are not, so by voting you can tell.

Actually theoretically come prices should go up till 15k per bike. Since 4 bike takes up 1 car space
