Recently, I tried to polish off some unwanted "growing" chrome from my S4 headlight. And somehow, rust started to appear on it. Is there anyway to prevent rusting from appearing?

Hi, I just got a previously 4 owners Spec I. I've quite a few parts that I want to replace. Namely the front brake rotors and its brake pads, radiator and its hoses and bleed or replace all fluids.

My car driving fren told me one stockist in Waterloo St. But not sure if they bring in bike parts as well (I'll call them when they opens tomorow).

I tried to search this forum but after clicking 40 to 50 links/pages I still can't find any stockist info.

My main aim is to DIY most of the bike and also send it down to mechs for stuff that I'm clueless which are a lot.

Usually Hella horns will have a diagram on their packaging with relay installation.

Tape those sections you don't want to remove the paint.

Use brush and paint remover to blister the paint from the rims.

Use ice cream sticks to get rid of the blisters as wood is soft and won't scratch the rims.

Wash with very soapy water.

Hand polish with Autosol and 600-800 grit sandpaper.

Finally hand polish with 1000 and above grit sandpaper and McGuire metal polish.

You can see your sandpaper will turn to like metal surface.

Maintain the high polish with McGuire metal polish and soft cloth.

i've done it to my bike. you better have tons of patience. took me about 4 hrs per rim. but i believe at the end, if i have used very fine grit sandpaper, it would look even more outstanding after polishing it with metal polish... oh and i never even used any tape to mark the places to avoid... cos the tapes didn't stick on for long. use your judgement and take your time.

list of items i used:

1. rubber gloves

2. brush

3. tiger brand paint remover

4. the green color scouring pad (heavy duty not the typical ones you see on kitchen sinks)

5. cloth

6. meguiars metal polish

i would advice to start pretty early during the day like ard...10am or so... and you should finish both rims before 6pm.

Thrash? Don't mind if i do.

And the stock powdercoating on the rims are very difficult to remove. Start off from the centre of the rims outwards so you have better control of your paint stripping.

the is a knod for u to turn on the right side of the bike located on the underside of ur carb.

u got to stand at the side-stand side n put ur hand into the engine area to get to it.

sry,i'm pretty bad at giving direction, maybe u should go to a shop.
