:cheeky: hi all, i thinking of getting a typhoon 125, saw in the classified someone selling $.13k for FW plate. not too sure if it is a gd buy?

Personally, I think it's a wonderful bike if it's condition is good.

But first to go for typhoon of this age is the rear shocks and fork.

It's not cheap for replacing them.

Then the tubes all need to change.

Once all this is done, It's a wonderfull and reliable bike.

Final word of advise, people with height of 175m and above is advisable not to apply for the bike :cheeky:

how to c the rear shocks and fork is in gd condition? rougly how much to change them?

The front fork is a upside down fork. The chrome telescopics area should be shiny and no oil marks. rear shock is harder to see.

When u ride it, if the whole bike is bouncy, chance is that both is gone. plus cornering should be stable. If it rocks unstablily, it's another tell tale sign. When u pillion another person, if you go thru hump, and the rear shocks bottoms out, it's also another tell tale sign.

The front shocks for typhoon got 2 version. The showa, older ones, or the newer ones sebacs. Fork cost like 400+. Rear range from 100+ to 200. This is for stock.

Malossi ones, which is a paoli, fork RS32 is 1200. rear is 400+.

But once u sort out all the worn parts, It's a very reliable scoot. provided u maintain it properly by changing air filter when time is up, changing the 2T belt and drive belt is up, rollers and clips when time is up. Topping up 2T when 2T is low.

IT's going to be a very reliable bike. I clock 28km/l for stock engines

The switch is actually the headlight switch. The possition is off - pilot only - pilot and main headlights.

If it does nothing, it would only means that it's wired to be fully on all the time.

This is a legal requirements for bikes registered after 1995.

Seems like your typhoon is also one of the last batch that was brought in at 1995. COE was too high then, thus it was sitting at the warehouse till 2004 then registered with $1 but was lay down.

To be "recertified" for road use again, it need to have a LTA inspection. Since it's registered at 2004. IT is required to have the head lights to be on at all times once the bike is started. hence the mod on the signal switch.

If you want to enable the function, it's very simple

For the throttle issue you face, I believe you just got your 2B?

Yes you are right on that. Compare to manual gear bike, auto scoot does need more throttle opening to move off.

Manual bike can move off at 2000rpm and can change to gear 2 aafter that.

Autoscoot gear engage is at 3000rpm. as It's a auto, "gear change" will varies at diff rpm.

However, if you find that u need to open more than 50% throttle before moving off, u need to adjust ur throttle cable slack.
