Wheel ball bearings - $20-35 (depends on how mech chop u) jtzx: change for only $5 at planet

Does $20 - $35 refer to the price of each ball bearing? I was charged $75 for 5 pieces...

* DID O RING with Original Honda Sprocket - $130 (Planet)

On my receipt from a recent servicing, I saw:

Front and Rear Sprocket: $95

X Ring Chain : $125

Assuming that I got the most high-end/original chain and sprockets, and facotring in the workmanship are those prices above reasonable?

Looks like you got carroted. Ball bearings don't cost so much. $35 should be full set of bearings. Unless the bearings made of titanium?

ah chong did mention to me before that sprocket and chain price will be increased soon.

but i believe him la, cause he has never carroted me or anyone else i know of for that matter. honest man.

x rings tend to be more ex than o ring because they're more durable.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

Just to clarify, the servicing I did above was not done at Planet Motor, but another shop. I'm just quoting the price found in the SgBikes price list as a comparison.

My servicing was done at another shop, not Planet Motor. I quoted the price from the SgBikes price list as a comparison, which happened to have Planet Motor's price on it. Actually I'm a Planet Motor regular, and I'm very comfortable with the prices Ah Chong charges. But recently I wanted to get my biked serviced at a convenient location, so I brought it to a shop near my house, which charged me $95 for front and rear sprocket, and $125 for X-Ring chain. I have no idea if X-ring chains are really so much more expensive than O-ring chains though ($215 in total for my X-ring and sprockets, compared to $130 for O-ring and sprocket by Planet).

The exact words were "5pieces - Front and Rear wheel bearings - $75".

So if $35 is for a full set of rings, does it mean that it will cost $70 for two sets, for front and rear wheel? I'm quite a noob at the cost of servicing bikes. My Phantom hardly gives me problems.

2 years back they were still bringing in the phantom fire edition... 6.8k, if i remember correctly..

"Wolves and sheep will live together in peace, and leopards will lie down with young goats, calves and lion cubs will feed together, and little children will take care of them. Cows and bears will eat together, and their calves and cubs will lie down in peace." Isaiah 11:6-8

Phantom no more in production. Honda Thailand made the last Phantom in March 2010. It's already more than a year and I don't think there will be any stocks left because Phantom is a very hot selling bike.

Well. I think you can try Honda Tiger. If i'm not wrong it uses the same engine as Phantom but it's not a chopper style anymore.

Yeah I was there half a year ago, there was a phantom fire edition there with only about 2000km++ on it's mileage. Damn pristine condition. But 5.2k.

Oh yes, I have a question about the headlights. I honestly feel that our stock headlights quite fail ah. I'm looking to get brighter ones that can actually reach further instead of just lighting up the area 1m in front of me.

Plus, when coming around bends in carparks, the cars don't even notice me at night because my headlight damn weak, had multiple near misses when the car nicely speeding round the bend in the carpark and overlapping into my lane.

Not looking for HIDs la, I just need something with further reach, and longevity. Then I happy boy already.

I'm using Maurauder/Intruder (can't remember which) headlights...changed at Ah Koon many eons ago. The lights work well (H4)...there's even a pilot LED (that I disconnected) available. The thing is, the phantom's battery is so small...powering that thing takes up most of whatever the battery churns out; when I tried to horn someone with my headlights on, it sounded like my horn kena water...was weak and sounded something like 'pppeeEEeeeeEeeEeEeEeeee....'. But when I switched off my headlights and tried again, my horn worked fine. So if you switch to H4 headlights, be judicious in your usage (i.e. try to avoid starting the bike with the headlights on) or it will take its toll on your battery in due time.
