Saw an F-16 pilot wearing his green flight suit with the F-16 insignia at Motorworld with his Fazer1000. Cool.. RSAF pilots can ride bikes, although highly discouraged.

6/60 without optical aids, correctable to 6/6

not sure if this is a dumb question.

but what is 6/60 in degrees? i only noe 6/6 is perfect eyesight.

also is it up to 6/60 for each eye or 6/60 for both eyes?

It's basically a ratio thing if I recall correctly.

6/6 means you see things with the same clarity as a person with normal eyesight at 6m.

6/60 means you see things at 1m with the same clarity as a person looking at the same thing but at a distance of 10m.

but it still doesn't really answer my question.

Degrees is not the best measure of your eyesight. It's possible for a person with a higher degree to see better than one with a lower degree.

In any case, one of my eyes is 6/60.. 750 degrees or so.

edit: Or let me put it this way, you cannot directly translate visual acuity into diopters(degrees) because they are measuring different things. Go to your optician and do a checkup would be best.

Just call me Eno.

so let's say i don't meet the requirements ( i'm 400 on 1 eye and 500 on the other) and i go for lasik.. will they evaluate me based on the corrected value?

they will.. but think they may want you to wait for one year before applying.. to allow the eyes to settle.. as for lasik.. no 100% !!!!

thanks for the explanation guys.

so when they state 6/60.. it means up to 6/60 per eye?
