Join the Air Force if you are too young, the experience helps. No previous flying experience will be a "stain" on your resume if you try SQ or most commercial airlines...

Cheers

Not exactly for SIA as they have their own training programme. For other airlines with no training program, they will want guys with experirnce.

Hmmm, most airlines have their own training programs, but from my side, most are ex air force pilots, guys who realise they can get more cash, and less of a military regime.

Cheers.

That's why cabin crew and flight crews stay at different hotels, they don't want the pilots to get frisky with the SIA gals...

I got this set of notes, basics of aerospace, quite useful for aviation "idiots", basic stuff bernuolli's law, about how the low pressure above the wing causes lift, basic aircraft instrumentation, rules, etc. Principles of flight.

I could photocopy a set for you, just reimburse me for the photocopying, fine with you bro?

Cheers...

HIez there..

i jux happen to caome across this webbie n i tink i have benefitted... jus a little info and questions to ask..

I am a 16 years old Singaporean student and i would like to enquire about the way to becoming a pilot. I have been fascinated about fighter planes and has ever since decide to pursue my career as an Fighter Pilot.

Presently this year, i am studying for my 'O' levels. However, i was just thinking about what i will be doing after my secondary schooling. Many people around me have told me to continue on with studying a diploma. The question is, which diploma?

What is the fastest way to becoming a pilot? I wouldn't mind going overseas if need be. There are so many licenses available that i'm so confused about which one comes first.

Most probably, wherever i am, i will most probably come back to Singapore and serve in the RSAF so is there any scholarship that you think i am eligible or worth considering?

I would recommend a engineering diploma, most pilots were engineers, or have engineering backgrounds. I took Mechatronic engineering in NP, highly recommended as we had aerospace modules, and third year you can choose between an aerospace program or an attachment program.

As what I tell every kid who wants to fly, the most obvious choice is still the Youth Flying Club.

Cheers

I recommend Mechatronics, it is a mixture of aerospace, mechanical, electrical, etc. Sort of a learn abit of everything diploma. I never too keen on aerospace engineering as the field is prestigeous, but at the same time, it is very limited and your job scope will be very small...

But I warn you first, engineering is one of those things, you sh*t your brains out for 3 years. While, humanities, economics, etc enjoy their diplomas, degrees, and the drop out rate is extremely high for engineering courses!

Ha ha, but I never regretted the engineering path, although I envied my mass comm "ex-friends", cause even though we were coughing blood and guts understanding physics and maths, while they were going to zouk for projects or sleeping around. Now I laugh at them as I have no problems getting a job, in fact we are in demand while they have to go into MLM and stuff. Thus resulting in them becoming "ex-friends".

Cheers...

P.S. Take your time Moccajava

For Singaporeans besides SIA, which other airlines can a Singaporean apply as a fresh cadet?
