I hang my helmet at the mirror and use padlock to lock it and leave it overnight.. Don't know suitable for health or not.. any suggestions?

hmm suggest u get a helmet liner.. then that should ok since helmet liner is much more easier to wash... for me i nv left my helmet in box or outside bike overnite.. like today sway i put down my visor, gana spider web on my face... :sian: so if u put outside even worse, lizard may go there cause they also need shelter ...cause i seen lizard on my bike b4.. so nth is impossi.... 2 cent worth

I have recently been keeping my helmet in my panniers, and seems there have been some 'foul' smell cos of rain seepage and not drying..

Bought this 'charcoal' from guardian, works well!

recently i washed my whole helmet (agv n shoei) i removed the liners 1st,wash them in washing machine.then my helmet i lay it on top of towel in the toilet so it wont have any scratches.then use warm water from the shower head n shampoo inside the helmets.give it a good massage like how u shampoo ur head then hang dry them @ the window.dry them for abt 2 days then it smells as good as new.found this method from a bike magazine.but dont dry them in direct sunlight or use hairdryer coz it will damage the insides. :thumb:

I will always over turn my helmet and put it in an open area when i reach home or anything. Got a few times i forgot to air the helmet, it will smell very bad and have to take out everything to wash. Actually juz airing the helmet already helps a lot.

i will wash every week. Imagine the amt of dirt trapped in your helmet paddings everyday when you ride in this urban city, go check the color of the water when you wash. its usually dark and grey

My advise is still to wash the paddings regularily, because the oil and dirt on the paddings will get on your face and hair, then you start having pimples and all sorts of hair problems eg. hair loss. That again is due to oily and dirty scalp, thats why hair thinning and hair loss is quite a problem amoung those who ride alot everyday.

I dump the cushions in the washing machine together with softlan to go along with it.. But the root to prob of the odour, is to wash u're hair every single day....

i prevent this from happening by wearing a cap before i wear my helmet.. then washing the cap is much easier than taking out the paddings to wash.. and i dont leave my helmet in my box overnight..

As recommended by Strong Eagle, I've bought Lysol. Sprayed it and left the helmet overnight. The smell goes away and STAYED away for more than a 2 weeks. Strongly recommended.

Recently my pillion helmet starts to get stinky. I just removed the liners to wash for the first time but I realise the cushion at the ear area is unremovable. How should I clean that area?

Appreciate if someone can advise. Thanks!

How do you sun it? Hang with the bamboo pole? Wouldn't that be dangerous? :giddy:

i remove my visor and dump my helmet in a pail of water with some nice smelling hair shampoo w/o removing the padding. soak over night. next day rinse and dry.
