    • Slow down when got chances then you brake.
    • Press horn hard.
    • Show the driver behind you the BIRD sign.
    • Try to make a turn at the junction to shake off the car.

What will you do if there is a fast moving car tailgating tightly behind you when you are apporoaching heavy junction? The car is too near for you to brake, traffic in front dun allow you to go ahead, bike not built for hard cornering and steep cornering...

I am curious on how the rest of the bikers will react when this type of situation arise. I made hard cornering on my Slasher which is wrong and far too dangerous without thinking too much on the road condition and the oncoming vehicles on the opposite traffic. I may get myself kill then and in SBF forum from heaven... Let see how will all react and learn slowly and correct our mistake before big issue happened.

Ah ok I think I get it....

But you mean the junction lights have turn red against your favor? Or the lights are green but there's cars making their right turn?

Hard to say what is the correct thing to do if it happened suddenly.... I guess I'll probably slow down. Somehow to me the thought of a head-on collision sounds worst than getting rammed from behind....

i suppose the best choice is to brake. if you were to take a hard corner, you might end up skidding and hurting yourself and others. if traffic in front does not allow you to go ahead, how do you force your way in? bang into the car infront? if you were to brake, chances are that the car MIGHT be able to brake in time, or even if he hit you, you can claim his insurance. the car by right is supposed to keep a safe following distance.

i will slow down...sure will tap the brakes so the driver can see and ofcourse i taking chances that he will slow down...i think beating red light at junction too dangerous...

Ok, let's assume if we suppose to turn right at that junction and the light in green in favor for us(No green turning arrow).

I have lined up in position to execute the right turn, but simply this dann car dun even let me have the chance to slow down and check for oncoming traffic. Assume it is too late for me to lane change to left for that car to pass or to shoot straight than to turn right.... I am something in such situation the other night.... Balls also 'shrink' but stupid enough to force myself 'ar' that hard turn while only barely can check opposite oncoming vehicles....the vehicles still got some distance to come near me, but never tot much of the road and my tire condition.....

Hope this will not happen to any other road users....I am lucky tat my guadian angels were watching over me...

If i brake, the car is too close (really too close liao) and time too short for him to react and if his mind is somewhere in Wonderland then that is it. As mentioned in the thread of 'Harley Vs Bambi' that driver is not in sounded mind... Simply one word, RECKLESS!

To counter the risk, I now line up at the traffic light. When it's green, I open up throttle and wack all the way to reach the left car park leaving those pack of cars behind. By doing this I save myself from being knock but some driver might have forsee that I am riding recklessly or being boastful.

Cheers!

One of the moves to counter all these nonsenses.... But you are putting yourself at risk of going fast before your left turn. You will not in advantage if some kuku perdestrain decided to cheong out from the pavement, either you bang em or you cause yourself to skid. The ppl will say you are speeding(frankly, they can't judge your speed by naked eyes. But those 'witness' can only gauge your speed by those hi rev noise from your engine....then they may say 'he speeding leh..) Then you got yourself in deep sh*t.

If i am you i will try to line up at the traffic light, move off slowly, roll on slowly at the speed you feel comfortable then signal left, fcuk care those driver behind you horning at you.... as long you can reach home safely. A bit of selfish here, but if kena bang by those inconsiderate drivers then even not worth it.

I'd say just slow down gradually with turn signal on. Shld the driver still move on ahead and tap u or bang hard. Open hard and just go straight first. Immediately take down the number plate. Stop by the side and call police for hit and run / reckless driving by that driver.

I sort of share the same experience with you almost everyday of my ride home.

1. When I'm about to reach home, I have to do a left turn into the car park which is 80m away from the traffic light.

2. Normally after the traffic ( 2 lanes ), I'll start to signal left to indicate my intention of turning in to car park. Those jerk cars just don't bother to slow down and I could see his car very close for comfort. I have to make quite a hard bend into the left and thank god that I made it into the car park without getting hit by the car.

To counter the risk, I now line up at the traffic light. When it's green, I open up throttle and wack all the way to reach the left car park leaving those pack of cars behind. By doing this I save myself from being knock but some driver might have forsee that I am riding recklessly or being boastful.

I do the opposite. I signal long before as well, and I accelerate moderately as usual and travel normally. And long before the actual left turn into carpark I start to braking gently, show my brake light is on.

Most of the time they will change lane to the right (cos my bike is quite fat with my sideboxes) or some reckless drivers will move a little to the right only and overtake quite closely. But they would have already slowed down in any case so the impact if they knock into me is minimised.

And if they are the tailgating kind, I will make sure slow until I almost stop before making the left turn in..... no point rushing through and endanger myself.

My personal opinion is when they see a bike whacking from the lights, most reckless drivers' 1st thoughts will be to whack also. This is because either (1) they will think it's safer from TP cos in front got somebody leading or/and (2) they treat it as a challenge and want to "win".

You're most welcome dude.

Just to add there's no "one-fits-all" solution to the situations we face on the road..... so it all depends on your personal own assessment of the scenario you're facing as well!

tap on brake lights a few times to signfy that you are stopping.... then slow down and turn.... I believe all bikes can corner to a certain extent lah.... just dun lock rear brake.....

Just my thoughts and few cents worth.... :)

Dear Intruder,

I believe i will slow down way before the traffic lights/turning in order to avoid the situation you are in. if they want to overtake, they will.

i think most of the unconsiderate drivers wont really care about us, however, they do care about their car. knowing that kissing other's ass will end up paying for their own repair fee will definately prevent them from buanging into you.

as the rest of the experience riders had mention, i will just press onto my front brake to light up my tail light to indicate that i am going to do a e brake which i am still moving on.

think there are lots of distraction in the car to prevent the drivers to have full concentration on their driving, hence, drive carefully and anticipate the road condition.

Cheers.

maybe he was tailgating you because you showed no sign of slowing down. if you had maintain at a moderate speed(say 60km/h), he would have overtaken you(if he is the impatient type) or maintain that speed behind you.

60km/h would not have been a problem to brake in time or slow down enough for a right turn. dont let cars bully us bikers around.

What doesn't kills me can only makes me stronger.
