Hi guys I'm new here. Thinking of buying the new 2007 Bonneville T100 I saw at Upper Serangoon today - is that Mah Motors by the way? Can help me decide? Glad to find Triumph riders here ah. Probably need all the help I can get. Know very little about Triumph but very attracted by the styling and I think the T100 performance is quite reasonable. If can buy second hand, also interested. The shop say the 2007 T100 brand new about 20K. Also say new stock coming in two weeks time.

Appreciate any help and discussion, thanks!

Welcome welcome.

cgShah is riding the bonneville but not the T100.

The T100 would pack a little more punch.

Triumphs are quite hardy, I find.

It's true that parts and accessories are les common and more expensive but then again, it's a Triumph, right?

$20k for a legendary and unique bike is very worthwhile.

Quick go get yours and join us real soon.

Thanks Throttle. I really tempted to buy but it's a big hole in my pocket. One thing I worried about is the speed. The guy at the shop (Rahim) told me that the T100 top speed is 160kmh. Is this true, do you guys know? I was hoping the bike could hit 200kmh, not that I need to go that fast but I don't want to feel the bike straining at 140kmh :(

Yes, also worried about maintenance ... another option is a Ducati Monster (also about same price) but I had bad experience at Minerva, don't want to go there anymore ...

If I get the Triumph, will be happy to meet up with you guys :) From what I read in this post, the Thunderbird is out of production already? So sad, why is that?

I'm not really keen on the triple bikes ... I kind of like the retro look ... what do you have Throttle? Is there a triple engine with a retro look?? I never seen any.

The other thing is that the shop won't allow any test ride. Sigh, all Singapore like that is it? How to know whether to buy if don't get to test ride, I don't understand :(

Thanks for all the tips, appreciate it!

Duke Monster was also my other option.

Looks like we all think alike.

I believe that the bike wont strain at 140km/hr simply becos it is high capacity. Compared to a low cc (400 -600) bike, if the top is 160km/hr than it will be a strain. However due to the riding position, the rider may feel the strain from the wind blast.

The Thunderbird tops at 180km/hr and very easily hits 140km/hr with a twist of the throttle but I didnt like the amount of wind rushing at me.

It is a 900cc triple cyclinder engine, yes out of production.

Dont know why also, the Thunderbird is actually the most iconic triumph since more than 50 yrs ago.

Another retro look is the Kawa W650. also very nice.

Like you say, you dont need the speed on such a bike.

Just enjoy the cool looks from other riders.....

Hello Cruise..

A great choice of bike you've considered. I agree to what throttle has said.

If you want speed, T100 or all the retro "Modern Classics" as Triumph named them, are not the bikes you looking for. It can gets\ by with considerable amount of speed but if you constantly wants to enjoy 130km/h or above... maybe you should look at other bikes...

Having said that, the amount of pleasure and enjoyment you get from riding bikes like Bonnie, T100 ot TB is really difficult to describe. You can't wipe the smile of your face esp when you get constant approval from all riders especially the harley riders.... It is a damn enjoyable bike to ride...

You might want to check out the thruxton if speed is of your concern...

Go your own way!!!

Hey cgShah

Thanks for the advice. I usually like to cruise around 100 or at most 120, but you know sometimes just feel like blasting at 160 on the NSE! Ok I'll check out the Thruxton also and see how. I'll probably spend a lot of time at Mah looking at what they have before deciding. Triumph is definitely very tempting :D

Will also look at the Kawa W650, thanks Throttle. Don't really know this bike.

Eh cgShah, is it too much to meet you to see/try riding your Bonneville before I decide whether to buy the T100? If it's not convenient or what, it's okay, not a problem, I will understand. I'm an experienced and safe rider though - never had accident before, riding for 15 years, class 2 since 1998.

Just feel like I must try the bike then I will "know" whether I can fall in love with it or not. Basically I need to feel how "torquey" the bike is. My previous bike (BM cruiser) extremely torquey, I need the Bonneville to be like that also. From what I know, it is like that, but never try before, so don't really know :-( Mah don't let me try!

The last time I asked (more then 2 years back) Bonneville was on the high side of 20k

:giddy:

Why are people who ride motorcycles called bikers and people who ride bikes called cyclists?

Wah like this I wait one more year then maybe 15K :giddy: Don't know whether I can trust the Mah guy actually. He declined to give me any price list for the models and I then forced to ask "Roughly how much", then he say, about 20K, like that la

It's a deal ! Really don't mind paying for the privelege. Actually I will offer $100 if the "route" is a bit better -

I'm almost going to buy the T100 already - over the weekend maybe. A test ride will really erase some of my lingering doubts.

Can? Let me know, I'll come meet you. Thanks!

I happened to give a visit at Mah two weeks back and there was a couple of Kawasaki W650 (I believe there isn’t any W400 right?) on the second floor. Perhaps those who are keen could drop by the shop and check the bike out.

Cheers cgshah and gah I did it, I took the 2007 T100 from Mah. Collect next week. I know you guys will be curious so the hole in my pocket is the winning hand in blackjack. Throttle and cgshah I hope you guys right the bike worth it. It's not much to look at yet, just the stock and I going to run it in. Any special advice on running the bike in, please share, I'd be grateful, thanks. Otherwise I'll just follow the manual. God I fear the tube tires. If you guys meeting up soon let me know I will come. I wanna see Throttle's Thunderbird :D

I paused to look at the Kawa W400 also. There is no W650 there apparently.

Yeah! Hurray! another Triumph Retro owner! *applause*

YEs run in according to Manual.

You will be one of the very few in Singapore with a brand new Bonnie.

I'm running on Tube as well but no worries.

While you were at Mah checking out the Triumph, did you happen to see the new Tiger 1050cc? It's new for 2007.Really great reviews. An all-purpose bike.Did mah bring it in?

Regret, didn't look in that direction. I only looked at the T100 and the Scrambler 900. There were definitely other Triumph models there but they were sort of outside my radar.

By the way, any idea why the Scrambler pipes are so high? Don't look like a pillion can sit there without real risk of getting their thigh burnt  Otherwise the bike looked pretty good to me too.

Does Mah take in bikes of other models to trade with a Triumph?

Do they offer up to 5 years loan?

I saw a Thunderbird at Combine Motor last Sat, belong to anyone here? By the way, there is a Trident for sale at Mah Motorparts.
