if that's the case, it'll definitely be nice to know. but seems like i'm worse off, because after traveling through SLE and CTE to exit to the town, the sound is still like that.

but i think too much 2T into the combustion can cause white smoke too. else i've read that blocked exhaust can also lead to white smoke. not sure though. i'm exactly 1 month old in owning a bike, and just 3 days old in riding the bike legally on the road. haha.

will be planning for a top overhaul soon, hopefully that solves the problem bah. :(

Regards,

Maestro

Don't forget to decarbonize your pipe if you havent. I have a friend just because his pipe got alot of rubbish inside never clean, then alot of performance problems like sluggish throttle response and such.

The my probloem how?

My YBR mileage is about 87k(87,000.0km). The engine sounds much better than those at CDC. But do i have to do an overhaul after the odometer reaches the end? If i do have to do an overhaul, should i do top overhaul or full overhaul? How much would this cost for a YBR? Thanks.

Actually no need to do overhaul if the engine sounds ok.

If something wrong inside, eg: tensioner going to spoil, the sound will be louder and louder, one day when too loud, the engine will "explode!" (not literally) but close enough, tensioner snap or come out completely, piston will fly all over inside the engine, then everything inside spoil. :giddy:

Can i ask whats the difference between

1) Full service --> Clean the top block/carb/decarbonize pipe?

2) Top block overhaul --> Clean/replace the piston area?

3) Full overhaul --> Clean/replace the whole engine?

Thanks!

Your 1 2 and 3 variez from shop to shop. If there's a problem with your bike, find that problem and fix that problem only. The exception is when the engine is split, o rings and oil seals are replaced conveniently since they're inexpensive and provides a good insurance against oil leaks.

Overhaul this word quite misused nowadays. Can also refer to rear end, the swing arm bearings and seals, bushes, etc.

I think it's easiest to explain no. 2. Top overhaul usually refers to repairing/rebuilding the top part of the engine, namely the cylinders, head, piston & rings, valve trains, camshafts. This description is not the most definitive but provides a rough idea what a top overhaul comprises of. Anything below the afore mentioned components should be considered "bottom end".

Don't let the shops fool you into doing a full overhaul, as most time it's not necessary and a waste of money. Find out the exact problem and cause of it and tackle it from there. You need a trustworthy mechanic to start with.

I see. So lets say my meter is reaching the end, so what kind of overhaul should i do just in case? Top block or a full service is enough?
