u mean tachometer (rpm meter) right? Unless u talking abt a meter that plays techno~

The older gen cbf 2011 and below doesnt come with it but have gear indicator...

Newer 2012 and above cbf have tachometer but no more gear indicator...

Usually 80-90km/h in SG road.... I am able to get around 480km constantly with just main tank.. Maybe u shld go tune ur carb as it might be too rich or u ride very aggressively?

Hi, what's the psi for the rear and front tyres? And is 1l of 4t engine oil enough for cbf150? Thanks

i pump 29 front and 32 back, its a little higher than stock pressure but depends on ur bike setup...

1L of 4T is just nice for our bike

29Psi is about 200kPA right? Meaning 32 Psi is about 220kPA. I pump my Dunlop GT50190/90 front tire about 220kPA (32Psi) and rear tire about 250kPA(~36Psi). What's supposed to be the stock pressure?

Btw, I saw a few threads using used eo to lub the chains, is this okay on our bike? If yes, how frequent should we do it?

Please dont... Used EO contain metal particles/dust that is accumulated from ur engine... do u like that on ur chain traveling on high speed? Best to get new 2t or 4t to lube ur chain, i am using a oiler with the $3 2T from LAB, been using 2 years and still have 1/3 left...

stock pressure is pretty low, around 170 front and 220 back if i not wrong.... Ur pressure shld be ok if u are carry heavier load or with pillion all the time, if not maybe can just reduce the back to 240 coz i feel urs is slightly high and might cause ur tyre to wear unevenly (as in the middle part will bald very fast but side still good), abit more grip for ur tyre is better for wet also...

hi all,

just bought a cbf 150 on april. quite a noob.

understand the FC for cbf its around 40-45km/l, what's the rough FC with pillion ?

also, when do i know i hit the fuel reserve tank ? when the indicator point at "E"mpty ?

Posted

Hey man,

Yeah that's the Fuel Consumption that most people get. However, for me, with regular pillion (+/- 70-80kg at most) on a 6 year old CBF 150, my FC is about 33-35km/l only. But it's alright for me, I guess. Just use it to get around.

As to the reserve tank, at the left hand side of your tank there should be a circular switch-thingy. Upwards pointing means using the main tank and downwards pointing mean you're using your reserve tank. Main tank about 10 litres, reserve would make up the remaining 2 litres.

To 'know'when you're hitting your reserve tank, there are 2 methods. Firstly, the "feel" method, where you experience sudden jerking of the bike(pretty scary feeling when travelling at 80-90km/h and you get this)/cannot start. Secondly, just mentally check and calculate from your fuel gauge on your dashboard. It isn't 100% accurate, so best if you gauge it yourself. Ie; bar at the redline already, distanced covered about 390-400km, best top up. (Assuming your FC is 40km/l, this is the expected range for your main tank).

Anyway, feel free to join the CBF150 FightHawkz facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cbf150international/ (requires Facebook account)

thanks for the info, btw do you guys put the indicator facing up/down ?

"up" : when required then switch it down to use the reserve

"down" : always ready to use it

will i get better FC after the bike "kick-in" ? i notice with pillion (50-55kg) and traveling about 25km+-, the indicator dropped "1 bar".

I personally always ride with the indicator facing down, means I'm using my reserve tank all the way. Just more convenient, I think. I hate the feeling of riding and getting the dreaded jerking of death! (ie, main tank run out).

Also, I just think that the fuel indicator is not very true and accurate. You'll notice that occasionally when you brake too hard to stop, your fuel indicator seems to show as if your fuel has magically increased and vice versa, sometimes going up steeper roads, the fuel indicator will drop by 1-1.5 bars.

I personally think that the fuel indicator is generally accurate for the first few bars, but after the halfway mark, it's a bit sketchy, mine will vary with every slight harsh movement/incline/pillion. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it, though. Should be fine!

Is it alright to switch/turn the indicator when engine is on? Wonder what ppl will do when they feel the jerk and need to turn on the reserve when riding on the express way.

I do agree the indicator wasn't very accurate. Just top up fuel when it point to the bar above empty. Only manage to top up 6l. Means I have 4l Between first bar and empty

Haha yes, it's perfectly fine to switch it while on the go. I've had to do so a few times on the PIE!

wow thats scary. must really know the bike well, if not, might not be able to find the switch.

do you guys lock your steering ? or just switch off the engine ?

Haha, you'll get used to it, but seldom need to switch la, if you manage and know your expected mileage well. But do expect some variation if you're using Shell Vpower or some of the Petronas fuels, they tend to burn better, means tank empty faster too!

And yes, I lock my handlebar no matter where I am. Once I off the red killswitch on the right side of the handlebar, twist handlebar and lock. Everytime. For ownself feeling la. Generally should be ok...

I'm starting to lock the handlebar now. Decided to turn the switch to always using reserve too. Just topup petro and its 6.5l again. Maybe next round I should make use of the tripmeter. 400km then go topup
