Spoke to a GoldWing 1800 owner some time ago and he told me that the 1500 model is the best for speed as compared to the 1800 one cos it's heavier. At the same time, he did "grumble" about the FC and he made it a point to cruise down the 2nd link weekly. Both the price and FC are like that of a car. Still, one of the grandest rides on the roads.

Not really true that the GL1500 is better in Speed.

I have tried both and for my case, GL1500 can only top at 190KM/hr but for my GL1800, i can reach 210KM/hr. No way that the GL1500 can even catch up with a GL1800 when we tried on the NS Highway (tested)

Fuel consumption wise, GL1800 is better as it is a FI model and also better throttle respond.

Past Ride since 1995 : Aprilia RS125, Honda Steed, Honda Shadow 1100 ACE, Honda ST11 0 ABS, Honda S4 VTEC 1, Honda GoldWing GL1500. Honda GoldWing GL1800, Yamaha Spark 135LE, Honda STX1300 ABS, B.M.W (Bus. MRT, Walk), SYM MaxSym 400i

More knowledge to absorb here. What about the vibe? I've never ride a GoldWing before but the GL1500 seems heavier than the 1800 one (maybe due to the squarish design on the 1500 as opposed to the aerodynamic on the 1800) and I can imagine the latter having vibes at that speed range as compared to the former. How's the FC for GL1800 like as compared to the 1500?

Sidetrack from topic, I noticed that your current ride is the STX. That is another beauty, man!!

Yes, GL1500 sure much more heavier than the GL1800. That's why most of those wingers once change from 1500 to 1800, they will smile all the way while riding the 1800 as it is much more easier to handle.

:cheeky:

Less weight, lower seat height and more power on the GL1800. GL1500 power don't come quick. The speed will slowly pick up when you turn your throttle. But for the GL1800, you can feel the power once you throttle HIT IN HARD

On meter wise, 1500 top is 200km and 1800 240km. As for FC, I need to top up about 20 ltrs for about 160-170 miles on the 1500 but i can reach about 190-200 miles on the 1800 (some of my friend can hit 200++ miles on their newer version of the 1800).

Ya, Both GL & ST is my DREAM BIKE but after riding the STX , I find that it is more difficult to handle than the wing and is not as comfort compared to the wings. I think I still prefer my 1800. Will definitely buy another GL1800 when the time is right  .

BTW, I didn't really feels the vibes on both of my ex-wings even i travel on high speed :thumb:

I think you mean the FC mileage is in terms of kilometers, right? Cos if it's in the miles that you've stated then the FC is superb :cheeky: !!! Haha... this is before hitting the reserves I assume. STX's handling is tougher than a GW? Maybe it's due to ergonomics? GW is one of the big bikes with excellent ergonomics despite it's size of a mini-car. I bet you've never experienced a sore butt/back riding it for long distance. It looks too damn comfortable that I can sleep while riding and reach to my destination safely :cheeky: (haha... seriously, don't try this at home ).

No vibes, you say. Hmmm, then this bike is definitely a comfort tourer for any occasions. Is it safe for me to say that?

Haha!! Maybe that is why most Golwingers prefer the 2nd link to the Woodlands CP as their lanes are wider. To date, I've never seen a Goldwing passing through Woodlands CP.

no. is in Miles. Come to calculation, is about 13km/l for the 1500 and about 15km/l for the 1800.

FYI, i have tried to pass thru check point at woodland on my 1800 but have not try on the 1500. 1500 will still be able to squezzeeee thru lah.

Ya, Frankie is riding a GL1500 and he have tried using the woodland checkpoint before.

But i think most of the Wingers will still prefer 2nd link as the lane is bigger. Thats why usually we gather at 2nd link before we go for ride.

The GL1500 squeezes thru at about 1cm allowance on each side, needs a lot of patience.. But wdlnds checkpt has no time limit on the clearance of passport, so no rush also. Been thru a few times.

That is impressive considering the size of the monster :p !! Maybe as a precaution, you can fix some sort of rubber stoppers on the the sides of the bike to prevent scratches (that is if y'all do not have them yet and also if such things exist).

Gd idea! but anything that sticks out from the bike might cut down on the cosmetics of the appearance.. Will experiment..:thumb: But 2nd link is still the choice.

Hi guys, I've got a goldwing (1500) for sale. COE will end 31 Dec this year and the colour is white. Japan model, so the radio cannot go beyond FM 90.0.

Condition: The condition of a 9-year Goldwing, so don't expect too much.
