Can i ask something?? the K&N air filter and Bmc air filter..as i koe is both filter is a flat filter, therefore,if i use that for my r6-06,there is a screw that hold the orginal filter in the centre..my bike shop says that got to be careful with that screw becos if it drop out...ha lee lu ya...

do u you guys have this expreience??pls share...thanks..

Siao liao loh...is the recall still stands??i tink my previous owner did not go for the recall leh...zzzz

There are 7~9 bolts (the silver ones in the FIG 1.1) to hold down the air cleaner element assembly (part no: 2C0-14450-00-00), which is directly above the airbox. Built/injection molded onto the element assembly is the bolt retainer, which holds your screw when you have fully loosened it during air element removal.

FIG 1.1

http://www.ar2performance.com/temp/r6airbox01.jpg

On the initial batches, the issue was the bolt retainer was not appropriately designed to sufficiently hold it the screw in place should it vibrate out IF it was not tightened correctly. Notice the edged plastic (FIG 1.2) just above the screw?

FIG 1.2

Hence, the re-called was to replace a new air element assembly (hence a new filter too!) with the following changes (FIG 1.4)

1. 90deg phase change in retainer position

2. Added extruded shoulders

FIG 1.4

http://www.ar2performance.com/temp/r6airbox04.jpg

A CLOSER COMPARISION (FIG 1.5 IS BEFORE RECALL, FIG 1.6 IS AFTER REPLACEMENT)

FIG 1.5

http://www.ar2performance.com/temp/r6airbox05.jpg

FIG 1.6

http://www.ar2performance.com/temp/r6airbox06.jpg

also, can see whether there is a punch mark on the serial no of ur frame(steering stem). thats a indication a bike that went to recall

Punch mark is not indicative of replacement done. Icepurple is right, HL will have a record of of chassis no. & license plate. DIY cases might not be punched. Gerald (HL staff) is kind enough to understand fussy freaks and allow DIY replacements.

Thank You.

Regards,

AR2 Performance

bro, OnceEarth told me Bike Production @ Serangoon quoted him $19.8 k OTR for R6, inclusive GST, IU and stuffs. Mayb ya wanna consider them. The downside is that their bike are parallel import. So ya won't have any warranty from Hong Leong, hence not eligible for any recall if there is any. However, imo 08 R6 is already 2 version after the 06, so the likelihood of having factory fault in the bike is low. Anyway, tat's jus my opinion, jus offerin ya another option.

Guys! i need help here.

Anyone have the engine and chassis numbers for the R6?

All along, i thought that mine was EFI. But a mech told me that mine was Carb model. Cause he sent it for tuning for me when i left it there for a few days.

I need to know exactly if my bike is EFI or carb.

Below are the COE details of my bike:

Original Regn Date: 02 Mar 2005

Registration Date: 02 Mar 2005

Year of Manufacture: 2004

Model: YZF R6

Chassis No: JYAR095000004443

Engine No: J509E014285

I hope the mech didn't swap my EFI engine for an old carb model.... =S

Hope someone can provide me with a list of the engine and chassis numbers and determine if my bike is EFI or Carb model....

Many thanx!
